Drunken Poet is one of the offensive Mystic Skills in Where Winds Meet. It's a hand-to-hand combat technique that deals good damage over a five-hit combo, and it looks pretty stylish too. Like the majority of other Mystic Skills in this game, getting Drunken Poet is simple, though not immediately obvious. Drunken Poet is a secret skill in Where Winds Meet (albeit not a well-kept one), and to get it, you'll need to source some alcohol and get absolutely smashed. Here's what you need to do to unlock this ability.

To get this skill, you need to keep drinking alcohol until you get the overdrunk or alcohol poisoning status. The number of wine jars you need to drink seems to differ, so just to be on the safe side, make sure to have at least 10 on hand.

The tricky part here is actually getting enough wine to get those status ailments. The best way to get some is to go to Hao Jiu, the Honest Merchant between Blissful Retreat and Harvestfall Village. He'll sell a selection of wine that's limited to five per day, per type of wine. Just get 10 of any wine you want, and drink it all in front of him like a madman. Each bottle costs 9998 Coins, though. Just something to keep in mind if you're strapped for cash.

If Hao Jiu isn't present in the map location above, switch to Online Mode.

Just keep drinking wine, and you'll eventually get hit by some alcohol-related illnesses, and once you pass out from alcohol poisoning, you'll automatically learn Drunken Poet. To get rid of your negative status effects, either wait until you sober up, or visit Yaoyao at the Evercare Clinic. Alternatively, you can have another player heal you.

How to Use Drunken Poet in Where Winds Meet

WWM Drunken Poet Skill Description
Where Winds Meet Drunken Poet Skill Description

Pressing the Drunken Poet skill button once causes you to drink from a wine gourd. This gives you the Intoxicated buff for 30 seconds — while Intoxicated, you can press your Drunken Poet skill button up to five more times, causing you to attack with a hand-to-hand combo that deals Physical and Other Attribute damage. Each strike consumes 6 Vitality, which is represented by the segmented ring between the icons of your abilities.

Drunken Poet is best used pre-emptively. The drinking animation will force you to completely stop for a short while, leaving you open to incoming attacks. While you have the Intoxicated buff, you can either use all five hits of Drunken Poet in one long combo, or use each hit in between your regular weapon attacks. This is best used against stance-broken enemies in PvE, and it is especially good against stance-broken bosses in Where Winds Meet. In PvP, you can use your Drunken Poet attacks to mix up your moves and throw your opponent off.
