Base building is just one of the plethora of activities you can do in Where Winds Meet. Unlike in most MMOs where player housing is limited and expensive, this game lets you make a house of your own using a building system that's commonly used by survival games. Yes, you can make a base using prefab walls, floors, windows, and so on, and you can even build preset houses if you want something built instantly. Thankfully, base building in Where Winds Meet is unlocked fairly early. If you want to dabble with this mechanic right from the go, here's what you need to do.
Where Winds Meet: Tips & Tricks
Master the art of Wuxia action RPGs with these beginner tips for Where Winds Meet.
How to Unlock Base Building in Where Winds Meet
To unlock this feature, you need to complete the Building: One Last Job quest, which takes place on Halo Peak. It's currently unclear if there's a minimum level requirement to unlock this quest, since in our case, we completed One Last Job after reaching level 40 and beating the Chapter One story boss of Where Winds Meet. Check the Exploration tab of your Journal and check if One Last Job is available. If not, try reaching at least level 25 or so first.
The good thing about the One Last Job quest is that it serves as a tutorial for the building mechanic itself. Once you reach the quest marker (which you can get by tracking One Last Job from your journal), you'll find a man named Yang Yuan at Halo Peak. He'll ask you to help with the reconstruction of the pagoda, and in return, he'll teach you how to build.
The game will hold your hand through the entire building process, so there's no need to worry about confusing controls. Once you've restored the pagoda, you'll unlock Construction Mode, which you can then use to make your bases.
How to Build in Where Winds Meet
First, you'll need to enter Construction Mode by pressing F4 on your keyboard or touchpad + R2 on your controller. Once you're in Construction Mode, you'll be able to select building pieces and place them in any non-restricted area in the world, but only in Solo Mode. All the necessary buttons for Construction Mode controls are on your screen.
How to Save Base Blueprints in Where Winds Meet
If you're satisfied with the base you've made, you can save it as a blueprint for future build projects. To do this, follow these steps:
- Enter Construction Mode

- Select an empty blueprint slot
- Move the blue highlighted area over the building/plot you want to save as a blueprint
- Make any necessary additions or adjustments
- Press the Leave button at the upper-right side of the screen

Of course, you'll need resources if you want to build anything in Where Winds Meet. Materials like Raw Ore and Timber can be easily found out in the world by picking up pebbles or chopping down trees. If you want to get a big batch of materials quickly, visit any of the general goods merchants and see if they have what you need. These merchant sell most crafting materials, including ones for making healing potions.
