Grounded 2 launched in early access, with most of its content available to players on day one, with the promise of more to be added soon. While the game has its fair share of issues due to being an early access title, there's a completely different issue that's bothering players. Grounded 2's shortcut and folder inside the installation directory are named Augusta, and players can't seem to understand why that's the case. Let's clear up all the confusion behind this seemingly mysterious title for the game.
Why is Grounded 2's Shortcut Named Augusta?
Players who have downloaded Grounded 2 during early access have noted that their game shortcut is called Augusta. If you dig deeper into the installation files of the game, you'll also find that one of the main game folders is also called Augusta, and the game also shows up as Augusta if you try to stream it through Discord. So what's the mystery behind this confusing alternative name for the game, and why are you seeing it?
Grounded 2 is built on Unreal Engine 5, and it's commonly a programming convention to assign a code name to the game during the development process. By assumption, this may be done to prevent the game's name from getting leaked if there's a security breach and files with the source code end up on the internet. So, Grounded 2's code name during its development cycle may have been Augusta.
However, this isn't the first time developers have named a Grounded title after a USA city, as Grounded 1 had the code name Maine. It's a popular theory that these code names signify the city where the game takes place. So, the park in Grounded 2 may be modeled after a popular park in Augusta in Georgia, USA.
With that said, it's definitely not intended for players to see this code name, hence there's a chance it will be replaced shortly via a post-launch update to avoid confusion. So, you can expect the game's name to be displayed as Grounded 2 sooner rather than later. In case you want to see the update name right now, feel free to manually rename the game's shortcut to Grounded 2 for the time being.
