Before the post-game, Wild Zone 18 is the best location to obtain high-level Dragon-type Pokemon in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, allowing players to prepare for the ultimate confrontation that comes at the end of the game’s main story. However, some of the inhabitants of this area can be surprisingly elusive if you don’t know where to look.
This guide covers the location of all Pokemon found in Wild Zone 18, the time of day when they spawn, as well as the best strategies for catching them. Here’s the breakdown.
Wild Zone 18 unlocks after players have completed Main Mission 30: Reaching Rank B.

Bagon Location
- Time: Day/Night
Two Bagon can be found inside the small garden surrounded by metal fencing, in the center of Wild Zone 18.
Swablu Location
- Time: Day
Swablu can be found on the rooftops of Wild Zone 18. However, it is impossible to climb up to this location from the inside. To reach the rooftops, climb the scaffolding that’s directly outside the southwestern entrance, and you’ll reach the upper gate. There will be a large group of Swablu nesting just inside.
Altaria Location
- Time: Day
Altaria is found on the rooftops near the Swablu. Climb the metal scaffolding just outside Wild Zone 18’s southwestern gate to get here. Altarianite is a reward for defeating the Rogue Mega Altaria in Main Mission 28.
Noibat Location
- Time: Night
Three Noibat spawn on the rooftops of Wild Zone 18 at night, replacing the Swablu that appear during the day.
Noivern Location
- Time: Night
A single Noivern appears on the rooftops of Wild Zone 18 at night at the same spot as the Altaria.
Fennekin Location
- Time: Day/Night
Enter Wild Zone 18 from the rooftop gate (explained in the Swablu section) and climb up the ladder right in front of you to find Fennekin. This is a skittish Pokemon, which means it will run away immediately if it spots you. Use a Quick Ball right away to catch it.
If you fail to catch Fennekin, you can rest at the bench just outside Wild Zone 18’s rooftop gate to pass the time and have it respawn.
Alpha Salamence Location
- Time: Day/Night
A level 61 Alpha Salamence is found directly in the middle of Wild Zone 18, next to the fenced-off garden that is surrounded by tall buildings. Salamencite can be purchased at the Quasartico Mega Shard Exchange for 360 Mega Shards after Main Mission 31.
Alpha Lopunny Location
- Time: Day/Night
A level 56 Alpha Lopunny is found right next to the southern entrance to Wild Zone 18, underneath the metal scaffolding. Use Fighting-type moves to take it out easily. Lopunnite can be purchased at the Quasartico Mega Shard Exchange for 180 Mega Shards.
