A new Witcher 3 mod allows players to create and play as their own custom character instead of Geralt. The mod lets players create a new Witcher, a Witcheress, or even a Sorceress, with the latter altering several gameplay elements of Witcher 3 to fit the sorcery powers.
Witcher 3 has always been a playground for modders. Mods of all kinds have been created, from those that change gameplay characteristics to others that alter the appearance of Geralt and his allies to even a mod that restores a secret ending. To support the modding community, in May of this year, CD Projekt Red released the REDkit, a free add-on tool allowing users to create mods more easily. Since then, numerous new mods have appeared, some more creative than others.
The Witcher 4 Shouldn’t Make Players Wait For DLC to Access One Feature
DLC can add valuable content, but this staple from The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine needs to be included in The Witcher 4's base game instead.
A new Witcher 3 mod created by nikich340 shifts the spotlight from Geralt and allows players to create their own custom character. Players can create a new character from scratch or use another's skin, such as Philip Strenger, the Bloody Baron of Witcher 3. With the mod, titled Custom Player Characters, it's possible to play as a Witcher, a Witcheress, or a Sorceress. If the player creates a Witcheress, the female model will use Geralt's animations throughout the game, both in cutscenes and gameplay. It's also possible to install an additional mod from the same creator to add female voices to the Witcheress.
Witcher 3 Mod Lets Players Create Their Own Character
Moreover, the mod also allows players to play as a Sorceress in Witcher 3, which not only changes the protagonist's appearance but the entire gameplay. Instead of employing swords and signs, the Sorceress wields various spells, such as casting lightning or meteors, conjuring a tornado, transforming into a cat, and even opening portals. The mod adds a questline for the Sorceress so players can learn new spells and adapt to their unique gameplay. It's also possible to customize the appearance of the spells by altering their colors.
Witcher 3 was released in 2015 and is one of the best-selling RPGs of all time, with over 50 million units sold. With such success, it's no wonder the game still receives several game-changing mods. CD Projekt Red has already announced that it's working on new games set in the Witcher universe. One is Project Polaris, also known as Witcher 4, which will kick off a new trilogy. The other is Project Canis Majoris, a full-fledged remake of Witcher 1. According to the devs, this remake will remove all the outdated parts of the first Witcher game.
