Witchspire Is Envar's First Original IP

Envar has now taken to the 2025 edition of Gamescom to unveil its first original IP, Witchspire. Described as a co-op survival adventure, the title was announced with a two-minute trailer comprised of pre-rendered cutscenes, which serve to establish its world and premise. The game will put players in the shoes of novice witches navigating a hostile land filled with corrupted creatures and mystical ruins hiding magical secrets. This will be doable solo, or in teams of up to four players.

Witchspire Promises Creature Collection, Base Building, and More

Gameplay-wise, Witchspire is an exploration-rich survival game, revolving around mechanics such as crafting gear, taming magical beasts, and battling a wide range of foes. The game will seek to incentivize exploration through lore reveals, with uncovering ancient secrets being described as a core part of its gameplay loop. Players will be able to traverse Witchspire's fantastical world by foot or using a flying broom. Taming and summoning familiars is a mechanic central to both exploration and combat, to the point that Witchspire can be accurately described as a creature-collection game, offering dozens of species that can be tamed. The game will also incorporate a base-building system that allows for free structure placement.

As is the case with many of today's highest-rated co-op survival games, Witchspire is set to offer extensive customization options. Players will be able to shape their spellcasters' identities and abilities through coven affiliations, crafted gear, and a cosmic tech tree. As such, Witchspire appears set to offer progression that's part gear-driven, part level-based. Envar is positioning it as both a sandbox game and a highly social experience. Budget-wise, the survival game is described as a AA project.

The 2026 release window that the Swedish developer attached to Witchspire only applies to the preview version of the game. The title will initially launch through Steam Early Access, setting the stage for a dynamic development period that will allow its world to be shaped by ongoing player feedback. Beyond PC, Witchspire has yet to be confirmed for any other platform.
