Though roguelike games do their best to be as replayable as possible without tweaking the formula too much, there's a limit to how many times players are willing to go through the same arenas without any modifications. The same holds true for Wizard of Legend 2, but the game has some surprises for players once they're tired of the vanilla experience.

You will unlock Nazradin's Trial Calibrations after a few runs. This NPC can be found in the courtyard of the hub area in the game, to the left of the portal. Talking to him will reveal that he can help the player modify their experience, making it easier or more difficult depending on what tweaks they make.

Wizard of Legend 2: Starting Elements, Explained

Wizard of Legend 2 has players choose from five elements at the beginning of the game, but which element is the best when starting out?

What Are Nazradin's Trial Calibrations in Wizard of Legend 2?

What Are Nazradin's Trial Calibrations

Narzradin's Trial Calibrations are a way for the player to add modifiers to their run, similar to the heat system in Hades. Players can buy positive and negative runes to influence their runs and make the gameplay easier or more challenging. Positive runes give the player positive effects, whereas negative runes have negative effects.

You will have three slots at the start for positive runes. These must be purchased using special currency players can earn by completing tasks. However, this is only true for the Apprentice difficulty. There are four other difficulty settings you can attempt, which are as follows:

  • Adept: Players can have two positive runes and must have one negative rune. Earn 15% more Chaos gems.
  • Elementalist: Players can have two positive runes and must have two negative runes. Earn 30% more Chaos gems.
  • Wizard: Players can have one positive rune and must have three negative runes. Earn 45% more Chaos gems.
  • Arch Wizard: Players can have one positive rune and must have four negative runes. Earn 60% more Chaos gems.

The higher the difficulty, the more penalties the player faces, but the higher their yield of chaos gems. Chaos Gems are useful for meta progression as they let the player unlock new magic, relics, and medallions. They can even be used to unlock new Wizard of Legend 2 outfits, giving the player some pizzazz to match their might in battle.

Which Difficulty Should You Choose in Wizard of Legend 2?

Which difficulty should you play in wizard of legend 2

At the beginning of your journey as a legendary wizard, you won't have a choice in which difficulty you play because of a lack of resources. Unlocking the negative runes isn't really an option early on, but once you've managed to beat a few bosses and finished the trial at least once, you can think about changing the difficulty settings to spice things up.

Playing at the hardest difficulty is something that only veterans of the roguelike genre should attempt. It requires you to have four negative runes equipped, meaning the enemies will be significantly tougher, and the environment will be much harsher. Additionally, the lack of choice regarding negative runes makes the game much harder than most players can handle.

Nevertheless, the fact remains that these difficulty settings are best applied as soon as possible since they give you a better drop rate for Chaos Gems, a somewhat rare resource that lets you progress in the game. The earlier you get this boost, the more you can get out of the Chaos Gems you obtain. The best difficulty to farm this resource is the Elementalist.

Players can choose two positive and two negative runes for this difficulty, making it the middle of the road. With the right negative runes, even new players can play on the Elementalist difficulty. Painful Pact and Danger Zone are probably the easiest negative runes to use, though the Sickness Rune is also easy to use if you pair it with the right medallion.

Combined with some suitable perks, a good magical arsenal, and your favorite medallion, you can challenge the game and farm the enemies for all their chaotic selves are worth.
