As one of the first optional side battlefields in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, 'The Yellow Heaven Burns' looks to be pretty standard. Outside of defeating the one Changgui, there are all human enemies that can be dispatched with a few hits.
The exception to this is Bo Cai. He looks like any other non-demonic human, but he's got a deep life pool, unique attack animations, and allies to help him. In a straight-up fight, he can be one of the toughest battles in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. With the right strategy, it's possible to turn this into one of the easier battles.
Preparing For The Fight
It's not possible to get a full-on respec without starting over, but there are some things all players can do to make this final boss fight more manageable. Get to the nearest flag and make sure that the Divine Beast, reinforcements, and weapons and armor are set up ideally.
As will be the case in many missions, the final boss is much easier at maximum morality and fortitude. Rest at a flag and kill previously defeated enemies until hitting a morality of 25 to make this battle easier. Getting all the flags will also ensure that the fortitude is as high as possible, decreasing the penalty should the character fall to the boss. Also, ensure that the Divine Beast meter is fully charged.
How To Beat Bo Cai
Those who use a great early-game build will find that Bo Cai isn't so tough when he's one-on-one. But he's got two pals right next to him that make things rough. One can be killed instantly with an aerial attack. Between the two, the staff is a bit more dangerous than the straight sabre on the weapons tier list, so take out the one on the left first
The other minion left over is not elite, try to kill him as soon as possible to create an even duel with Bo Cai. As is the case with most bosses, beating Bo Cai comes down to understanding the moves and blocking or parrying each attack.
Bo Cai's Moves
The most common of Bo Cai's attacks is a spear thrust. He'll grab his spear close to the tip and tuck it in. From this position, he will jab forward twice and then make an arcing attack all around himself.
Ideally, it's best to parry these attacks. Dodging works for the first two jabs, but players will have to step back a moderate distance to avoid his third swing. Also, a parry will send Bo Cai staggering to the side briefly. A quick weapon can get off a few hits before going back on defense.
Bo Cai's unblockable attack is extremely deceptive. He'll turn red and then swing his spear around but this swing is not the attack. It'll go around his back and then he'll jab it forward for the attack. Players who plan on parrying this strike need to wait for that first loop before blocking.
He also has a different animation where the spear goes over his head instead of around his body but the timing is the same. Wait until the first loop before deflecting the strike.
When Bo Cai gets stunned by a negative spirit bar, take a moment to use a Divine Beast for some extra damage before taking the lethal blow.
