Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty's release date has been announced for March 3rd, 2023. Earlier this year, Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo made a surprise appearance at the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase after years of partnering with PlayStation for the Nioh series. The studio announced Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, a brand new souls-like IP building off the strengths of the Nioh series that will be releasing for multiple platforms in 2023. Now, the studio has announced the game's full release date.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is the first new IP from Ninja Gaiden developer Team Ninja since 2017's Nioh. It is a new action game set in China's Three Kingdoms period that blends real historical events with a supernatural setting, implementing creatures from Chinese mythology. The game's combat focuses on speed and is more similar to games like Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice than even the Nioh series.

After releasing a demo during Tokyo Game Show last month, developer Team Ninja has confirmed that Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty will arrive on PC as well as current-gen and last-gen consoles on March 3rd, 2023. This perfectly positions the game during the busy Spring 2023 period alongside other big releases such as Resident Evil 4, Dead Island 2, Like a Dragon: Ishin, and Hogwarts Legacy.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty represents a surprisingly quick turnaround for a new Team Ninja action RPG, as the game will release less than a year after the studio's most recent game in the genre, Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin. What separates Wo Long from that game, however, is that this title is being led by many of the staff behind the Nioh series, including studio head and director Fumihiko Yasuda. This game will be the first title from the studio to enlist ex-Bloodborne producer Masaaki Yamagiwa, whose knowledge of the genre having worked at PlayStation's defunct Japan Studio is sure to lend the game a distinct level of polish.

While there is likely to be another timed demo released before Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty arrives next March, fans still unsure about the game will be happy to learn that the title will be a day one addition to Xbox Game Pass, joining a host of other Japanese titles Microsoft has helped bring to the service, while also marking a big debut for Team Ninja's souls-like titles on the service given that the Nioh series is PlayStation exclusive. Team Ninja's next game after Wo Long, Rise of the Ronin, which has been announced to release in 2024, will also be a PlayStation exclusive.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty will release on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on March 3rd 2023. The game will be part of Xbox Game Pass at launch.
