Another day means another Wordle word of the day to puzzle through. This viral game is a fun way to spend a few minutes every day, but some puzzles can be too much to handle. If there are players out there who need a few hints or the solution to puzzle number 278, this article is for them.

How To Play Wordle

Ever since it went viral in January of this year, Wordle seems to be showing up everywhere. Even with the apparent decline of Wordle players since it was purchased by the New York Times, those little green, yellow, and gray squares seem to pop up in all sorts of places. However, there are still some word puzzle fans that have yet to try it out; for anyone who doesn't understand the rules, here's how to play:

Players need to head to the New York Times game site where Wordle is now hosted.
In order to start, players just need to choose any five-letter English word. Some players have a best word they start with every day, but some choose to use the answer from the previous day's puzzle or a random word. There is no right or wrong way to start a Wordle.
After choosing a word, type it into the five boxes at the top of the website. Players can use the browser's keyboard at the bottom of the screen or the physical keyboard on their device.
Press enter.
Once the starting Wordle word has been put into the site, the letters will change color.
Green letters are correct and gray letters are incorrect. Yellow letters are in the word somewhere, but are currently in the wrong place.
Players have five more tries to get to the word of the day given these clues.
Letters can be duplicated in the answer.
Puzzles reset at midnight local time every day.

No matter what a Wordle player's strategy may be, when they complete the puzzle, they will get access to the stats menu. If players use the same browser every day to play on the same device, it will show things like win percentage, the number of puzzles played, and what percentage of puzzles were solved in each number of tries. On this menu, players will also be able to share their board as spoiler-free colored blocks to social media with the Share button.
