Wordle is a popular word game that went viral on social media earlier this year. That being said, not everyone has tried this game just yet. Here are the rules, some pointers, and the answer to today's puzzle, for anyone who needs the help.

How To Play Wordle

Although there are a lot of Wordle copycats and clones, the original is the one currently hosted on the New York Times Games site. This was originally created and hosted on the powerlanguage site, but it was purchased by the news company back in February. All hints, answers, and rules in this article will be about this version and not any of the others.

First, head to the New York Times' Wordle website. There will be a five-by-six grid of squares. Players start by filling in the top row of this grid with a five-letter English word. It has to be real and cannot be one of the many potentially offensive words that the NYTs censored from Wordle when it bought the game. While the answers are almost never plural nouns with an S on the end, players can use those as guesses. Answer are also usually the American spellings of words.

Type the starting word into the site.
Press enter.
The letters will change color to give the player some hints: green are right, gray are wrong, and yellow are right but in the wrong place in the word.
Using these clues, players have six total tries to guess the word of the day.
Puzzles reset daily at midnight local time.
If players use the same device and browser every day, they will be able to see their stats by clicking the graph icon in the upper right-hand corner. This menu will also have a Share button.
