In the accurate vehicular mayhem of World of Tanks Blitz, the Medium Tank is characterized as a more all-around tank that boasts averaging weight, speed, armor, and even firepower that allows them to work their way around their more durable Heavy Tank and much faster Light Tank counterparts. Given their adaptable nature, Middle Tanks come in varying degrees of closeness to both the maneuverability and firepower of other tank variants but never go as far as to cross their thresholds.

Save for its rather average gun, the STB-1 from Japan can become a dependable all-rounder Medium Tank in World of Tanks Blitz gameplay with its decent armor and mobility. Even if its gun can’t outperform those of other Mediums, its DPM pairs well with its overall armor and 11-degree depression that the STB-1 can facilitate solid plays when in proper cover and elevation. However, players do have to capitalize on the tank’s decent aim-in speed as the gun’s low accuracy can make misses rather punishable when in unfavorable angles.

While other Medium Tanks can outperform the STB-1, its all-rounder stats can make the STB-1 adapt in most situations. Compared to the STA-1 which is much more difficult to handle, the STB-1 can dominate hills, crests, and even steeper slopes with its depression. The STB-1 should also be able to capitalize on flanks and outrunning opponents, especially with backup.

Thanks to the STB-1’s more all-rounder stats, it’s more capable of adjusting to combat situations compared to other Mediums that tend to lean towards specific strategies. The STB-1 favors players who prefer using map terrain to their advantage, especially when it comes to flanking, lying low, and even jumping the gun on foes. Thanks to the STB-1’s excellent depression, players who prefer low-profile plays won’t have to risk exposure just because their Mediums of choice couldn’t handle the elevation. From afar, the STB-1’s decent aim time can secure shots without taking much punishment. Meanwhile, when pushed to a corner, the STB-1’s speed should be able to hug another tank’s side while damaging it.

As with other French Mediums in World of Tanks gameplay, the AMX 30 1er Prototype suffers from a rather weak frontal hull but a decently protected turret and side profile, emphasizing fast-paced tank plays that rely heavily on sniping foes or flanking them whenever opportunities present them.

Despite the AMX 30 1er Prototype’s speed, its penetration could use some work and would therefore need more effort getting shots in or farm damage while other heavy hitters get the job done. Players who want to secure more damage should ideally secure Equipment that decreases Aim Time as well as HEAT Ammunition to maximize overall DPS.

Given the overall weaker frame of the AMX 30 1er Prototype, it needs to rely on speed or it could get punished easily when trying to attack other tanks. In this regard, the Prototype’s priority in every match is to secure sniping positions early in the game and get shots early. Since the AMX 30 1er Prototype can’t take as much damage, it can best aid teams as more of a support tank, staying in position and farming damage off opponents distracted by the rest of the team. Hulldowns and using elevation could work to the prototype’s advantage, especially when securing cover. Likewise, engaging enemies means hugging their side to maximize their strong side armor.

One of the primary complaints about the Prototipo Standard B is its auto-reloading nature, as it can take a significant amount of time off a player when it comes to their activity across the map in their World of Tanks Blitz experience. However, the Standard B’s mobility, gun handling, and overall accuracy can make it a potent sniper and flanker provided players know how to get their timing properly.

Survival is a key aspect of Standard B’s playstyle, especially as a paper tank. Thanks to its gun’s decent depression and penetration, players can go for slower approaches and rely on stealthier plays. Fans bothered by the lengthy reload could adjust to the Standard B easier by thinking of it as a one-shot tank with a 5-ish second reload that increases per shell left, reinforcing the need for surer strikes.

The autoreloading nature of the Standard B makes it a punishing Medium Tank for reckless plays. Since a match begins with all of the Standard B’s shells available for play, they can easily get aggressive and scout for enemies to dump their initial load, retreating to the backline courtesy of their mobility. While the overall reload time for all bullets can take as long as 21 seconds, this is more than enough time to observe the flow of combat on the map and secure surprise shots. Alternatively, players can wait around 13 seconds to secure two rounds before firing them one after the other before hiding during the reload sequence.

For a Medium Tank, the FV4202 in World of Tanks Blitz gameplay can let players enjoy faster-paced fights with the comfort of both great speed and overall armor. Not to mention, its turret and guns provide players with decent DPM and base damage that can make it a lethal war machine should it secure hits. While its aim time and dispersion while moving leave much to be desired, staying stationary to secure a few shots shouldn’t put the FV4202 at much risk due to its capacity to leave at the first sign of danger.

Hell Let Loose Tank Collage
Hell Let Loose: Best Tanks, Ranked

Hell Let Loose's large-scale, combined arms warfare features a number of different vehicles for players to use. These are the best tanks in the game.

The FV4202 also boasts one of the strongest frontal hull armor and turret armor among Medium Tanks, although weak points still exist that more careful enemies can exploit. In turn, the FV4202’s playstyle still favors using dispersion on low angles to boost the turret armor’s strengths and secure more hits.

As with other Mediums, the FV4202 shines when its speed is used in conjunction with its accuracy when aimed properly. Since the FV4202’s guns don’t deal as much damage, attacking with them won’t get as much attention from foes at the onset. In turn, an FV4202 positioning to the opponent’s rear or side may not be as noticeable, giving players time to properly aim and secure their hits. Using the L7A1 gun should boost the FV4202’s penetration power with HEAT, while the L7B gun and calibrated shells can deal more damage when flanking.

Among the Medium Tanks players can encounter in World of Tanks Blitz gameplay, the T-62A is a worthwhile addition to one’s arsenal. Its impressive gun has some of the best DPM and accuracy stats among its tank class, as well as gun depression that can outperform other Russian war machines. Sadly, the T-62A does suffer from lackluster mobility, low alpha, a large frame, and even quite the weak hull that can ensure enemies punish players who run risky plays.

The T-62A’s improved frontal armor should also boost its overall survivability against most Lights and Mediums, though it still needs to rely on hulldowns or cover when facing larger foes. Thankfully, players can reliably depend on its turret armor for defenses while aiming down on foes, damaging them whenever necessary.

When it comes to combat with the T-62A, it relies on the traditional Medium Tank strategy of either a hulldown or a flank. Players of the T-62A who prefer moving around should rely on its decent depression to protect its rather weak turret cheeks, especially when squaring against larger foes. While the Medium Tank doesn’t have as much mobility, it should be fast enough to reload while rushing behind the enemy for a quick clip dump that can deal decent damage.

While statistically supposedly an average tank, the Leopard 1 can help players dominate World of Tanks Blitz gameplay by understanding its playstyle demands. As a Medium Tank that compensates for its lackluster armor with decent speed and a powerful gun, the Leopard 1 resembles a mobile Tank Destroyer in the need to play more stealthily instead of being a direct support unit.

The Leopard 1’s gun boasts incredible DPM and accuracy, on top of decent gun depression that should help the tank dominate different forms of elevation. In that regard, the Leopard 1 suits peek plays and stealth attacks that ensure they can give enemy tanks a world of hurt but the rest of their team distracts them enough that they can’t punish players for it.

The Leopard 1’s glaring lack of defenses means its best playstyle highly depends on how players can adjust to the rest of their teammates. In most situations, players can expect another Medium to outmaneuver foes and distract them so the Leopard 1 can have room for powerful sniping shots. Likewise, players should try assessing where enemy flanks could lurk and try to out-flank them, relying on speed to lure them out in the open for their allies to attack, while the Leopard 1 retreats to a more favorable spot to secure more shots.

While the Progetto M40 65 has an auto-reloading gun, it outshines other auto-reloaders in its ability to gain DPM the more shots are fired. Not only does this compensate for the Progetto 65’s rather lackluster dispersion, but it also maximizes its already-decent aiming time and on-movement dispersion. On top of its decent acceleration and remarkable speed and agility, the slope on its upper glacies will usually bounce off bullets, making its frontal defenses rather a trolly when angled properly.

Player destroys infantry units using tanks in Squad
Squad: The Best Tanks, Ranked

Players in Squad have the chance to fight against one another, using various weapons and vehicles, like tanks, to dominate the enemy.

However, the Progetto 65 does have some setbacks in terms of both speed and defense. The whole magazine can take up to 50 seconds to reload, and the rest of its armor profile offers rather lackluster defense. In turn, the Progetto 65 has a similar playing style to the Leopard 1, only with the auto-reloader taken into consideration when timing shots.

The powerful gun of the Progetto M40 65 paired with its tricky defenses means it demands a bit of tactical maneuvering on the player’s part to secure victory. Survivability depends on how fast players can secure angles, hull down, and even alternate between flanking and providing covering fire for allies. Players should consider using the Progetto 65’s high HE penetration, as using it while flanking vehicles with thinner armor could usually take huge chunks off their health when penetrated.

Despite the inherent weaknesses of the TVP T 50/51 in terms of overall armor and low HP, its speed in terms of both mobility and firing rate can make it seem like a portable machine gun in World of Tanks gameplay. Its high view range combined with the tank’s powerful acceleration, top speed, and agility can make it a burst specialist as its gun has high DPM, aim time, and clip reload. With the right plays, a TVP T 50/51 can unload an entire clip onto the enemy with enough time to run for cover.

However, the TVP T 50/51’s speed reliance can become its greatest downfall. Both its armor and HP Pool are among the lowest among tanks in its class, and its large profile makes it hard for the tank to hide. Moreover, its poor gun handling and subpar alpha and burst damage means dumping clips may be the only way for the Medium Tank to deal respectable damage.

While the Medium Tank does have glaring survivability issues, the TVP T 50/51 still plays like a champ when the tank knows where it’s going. Players need to take advantage of its quick reload, as unloading clip after clip can quickly compensate for its low burst damage. Thanks to its speed, the TVP T 50/51 can become a mobile sniper, at least in the sense that it can quickly scout for terrain to capitalize on its depression and view range to find viable targets while leaving little room for being hit back.

Despite being a Collector Tank, the USSR’s T-22 Medium can spice up a player’s World of Tanks Blitz gameplay with quite a mobile tank with exploitable trolly sloped sides that can pave the way for a lot of hurt. Joining its speedy nature is its strong turret that can be debilitating against slower Heavies, especially when players manage to get used to its tricky gun handling.

While other Medium Tanks such as the M48 Patton and E-50 M can contend with the T-22 Medium’s base stats, players who manage to get this classic tank can still reliably flank foes or outrun them in tricky situations. Given its weaker overall armor, the T-22 Medium is an ideal scout or surprise attacker.

Positioning is key to maximizing the T-22 Medium’s speed. Given the tank’s decent side armor, it’s best to show this instead of the front when having to peek outside cover. Likewise, hugging the side of an enemy tank is an ideal counter, especially since getting hit on the side can still protect the T-22 Medium with damage mitigation. When trying to attack slower Heavies, it’s ideal to use at least 10 Premium (HEAT) Ammo and Calibrated Shells, specifically for the additional armor penetration on the side armor of these behemoths.

While the E 50 M is already an impressive Tier 10 Medium Tank in the World of Tanks Blitz roster, the recent patch elevated the E 50 M’s defensive profile. On top of its weak lower front and lack of sloping plates is its gun’s lack of DPM and poor frontal gun depression. However, the E 50 M’s decent front-facing plates can give it enough armor to tank close-range brawls. In fact, the E 50 M does boast strong enough frontal armor that can help it ram into most Tanks before ending with a quick shot before enemies recover.

Outside melee, the E 50 M still boasts a maneuverable gun that offers accurate tank plays at long distances. In turn, aiming from afar while maximizing better gun depression on the side can help it in critical engagements. Moreover, its decent speed can help it get in and out of positions early, be it as a flank or a scout.

Despite the decent armor of the E 50 M, it’s not suitable for pure close-range engagements. Thanks to its speed, the E 50 M can be quite the skirmisher when provided with the right support. Utilizing cover and surprising unsuspecting foes can let the E 50 M score decent shots, and the assistance of another Medium to clear the flank can secure more sustainable plays. Even in situations where the E 50 M can be heavily damaged, its mobility should be enough to help it escape and reposition quickly.
