World of Warcraft Classic has officially announced Phase 6 of Season of Discovery is on its way, featuring the Ahn’Qiraj War Effort and raids along with the new Nightmare Grove instance. This content update for World of Warcraft Classic Season of Discovery goes live on November 21, but players can start the Scepter of the Shifting Sands questline more than a week earlier.

The fifth phase of World of Warcraft Classic Season of Discovery went live on September 26, bringing revamped versions of Blackwing Lair and Zul’Gurub to the retro servers, along with a brand-new Crystal Vale raid against Prince Thunderaan. This was the second max-level phase for WoW Classic Season of Discovery, leaving only a handful of endgame instances in the Season of Discovery waiting room.

WoW: Season of Discovery – Phase 5 Overview (Raids, Runes, & More)

WoW SoD Phase 5 has been revealed, including two new Raids, new Runes to collect, and other Discoveries to make in P5.

Now, it seems like World of Warcraft fans won’t have to wait much longer for the next batch of Season of Discovery content. Phase 6 of WoW Classic Season of Discovery arrives on November 21, bringing with it the Ahn’Qiraj War Effort, leading to the Temple and Ruins of Ahn’Qiraj raid instances not long after. What’s more, players can confront all four Dragons of Nightmare world bosses in back-to-back raid battles in the Nightmare Grove, accessible from all four Emerald Dream portals located across Azeroth.

WoW Classic Season of Discovery Phase 6 Timeline

  • November 12: Scepter of the Shifting Sands questline becomes available after reset.
  • November 21: Ahn’Qiraj War Effort begins at 1:00 pm PST.
  • November 29: Ahn’Qiraj War Effort ends.
  • December 4: 48-hour war against Anubisath, Silithid, and Qiraji forces.
  • December 6: Temple of Ahn’Qiraj, Ruins of Ahn’Qiraj, and Nightmare Grove open.

Though the phase itself arrives on November 21, the Scepter of the Shifting Sands questline will open up on November 12, over a week ahead of time. The War Effort itself runs from phase launch through November 29, while the two-day war against the Qiraji takes place from December 4 through December 6, after which the Temple of Ahn’Qiraj, Ruins of Ahn’Qiraj, and Nightmare Grove will become available. Fans who finish the Scepter of the Shifting Sands during this 48-hour period will earn the Black Qiraji Battle Tank – one of the rarest mounts in World of Warcraft.

The Ahn’Qiraj war effort is one of the most memorable moments in World of Warcraft history. It was one of the first instances where the Alliance and Horde came together towards a mutual goal, and marked the fall of the first of WoW’s Old Gods. Now, players can experience this iconic event in Season of Discovery.

After Ahn’Qiraj, Naxxramas will be the only vanilla WoW raid that hasn’t been added to Season of Discovery yet. However, WoW Classic has teased something big coming to Season of Discovery – and it doesn’t seem to be anything from Phase 6. World of Warcraft Classic Season of Discovery has at least one more phase to go after Phase 6, and between Naxxramas and whatever "larger than life" encounter Blizzard has planned, it will be an update fans likely won’t want to miss out on.
