While a release date has not been announced yet, World of Warcraft: Dragonflight's next patch looms on the horizon. 10.0.7 is currently being tested on the PTR, and the roadmap says it will release sometime this spring. It will introduce a bunch of new content for players to explore and will expand the story of the Dragon Isles in new ways. It looks like it will be a lot of fun for World of Warcraft players, and hopefully they do not have much longer to wait.
10.0.7 will serve as the second patch of World of Warcraft: Dragonflight, and the content seems pretty strong. Not only will there be various tweaks to the game, but there will also be a slew of new addition to WoW that should be worth the wait. Players can expect a brand-new zone, new armor sets, more story quests, and a whole new faction once the update rolls around.
The Forbidden Reach
The biggest feature that 10.0.7 will introduce is the new Forbidden Reach. The zone served as the location of the intro questline for the Dracthyr Evokers, and now it will make its grand return as a new max-level zone for players to explore. This zone will not only feature new story content, but it will also bring with it a bunch of new features that players can mess around with. There will be new Dragonriding Races, a brand-new Mega-Storm event, new pet battles, an assortment of new enemies to kill, and even more treasures to uncover.
One of the most interesting parts of the Forbidden Reach is probably the Zskera Vault. Players will be able to enter a randomized treasure room every week that has been specially curated to their character. The room contains puzzles to solve, monsters to kill, and mysteries to uncover. Players will also be able to pick up a weekly vault quest from the black dragon Voraxian. This quest will have them explore long-buried history and uncover the secrets of the past. Through this feature, players will acquire and empower the new Onyx Annulet with Primordial Stones. This Annulet is a powerful piece of gear that seems to be the primary progression system in this new zone, and hopefully it is more engaging than the Heart of Azeroth was.
Orc and Human Heritage Armor
10.0.7 will also introduce two new Heritage Armor sets for players to acquire. Human players who are Exalted with Stormwind and level 50 will be able to pick up a new quest from Master Matthias Shaw. This quest will bring them on a journey through Stormwind's shadowy past and will task them with protecting Stormwind's future. Upon completion of this quest, players will be granted the new human Heritage Armor for their collection. These armor sets seem to be heavily inspired by Warcraft 3: Orcs & Humans, and human players should definitely snag them as soon as possible.
Orc players who are exalted with Orgrimmar and level 50 will also be able to acquire Heritage Armor. They will be able to pick up a quest from Eitrigg to earn this armor, which will have them assist Eitrigg in bringing back the Kosh'harg festival from old Draenor. They will go on a journey that sees them receive the blessings of their ancestors so that they can prove themselves a true champion of the people. Each of these armor sets also seem heavily inspired by Warcraft 3: Orcs & Humans, and Orc players should definitely not skip out on them.
The New Winterpelt Furbolg Faction
The update will also introduce a new faction reputation grind for players to progress through. The Winterpelt furbolg faction has been in Dragonflight since launch, but 10.0.7 will finally let players befriend these residents of the Azure Span. The furbolg speak a language that no one really understands, and it will be up to the player to learn their language. Alongside Sonova Snowden, players will try to crack their dialect and hopefully earn their trust along the way. This reputation grind will award players with new cosmetics, toys, recipes, and a 34-slot reagent bag. It seems like this grind will be using the classic reputation combined with a new language skill system instead of Dragonflight's Renown system, which should be an interesting change of pace.
Brand-New Story Quests and Other Changes
Outside the new Forbidden Reach story, players will also be able to go on a new adventure with Baine Bloodhoof. Baine was heavily sidelined in Shadowlands, but this new quest puts him front and center. Players will join him in the Ohn'ahran Plains to help him track down an old friend. They will learn all sorts of new things and uncover a long-buried past as they travel alongside him.
10.0.7 will also feature a bunch of smaller changes that may go unnoticed by a lot of players. The Monk class will be expanded to include goblins, Lightforged draenei, and worgen. The Recruit-A-Friend program will get a refresh with new rewards, players will be able to represent a chosen faction every day for extra reputation, new Dragonriding abilities will be added, and classes will get dozens of tweaks. The roadmap also mentions holiday updates, but development notes have made no mention of them. Either they have been scrapped, moved to another patch, or the studio is just not ready to reveal what that entails yet.
There seems to be a lot of content coming to World of Warcraft in patch 10.0.7. While it is not a major patch, it seems to have just enough content to tide Dragonflight players over until 10.1 launches later this year. Hopefully, the content is just as engaging as it sounds. Dragonflight has been a great return to form so far, and 10.0.7 looks like it will continue to remind players just why they fell in love with Azeroth in the first place.
World of Warcraft is available now on PC.
