World of Warcraft is a successful multiplayer online game that provides players with a large amount of playable content ranging from exploring dungeons to fighting raid bosses. Players are even given the option to master multiple professions to help them as they journey through the Dragon Isles. With the release of the World of Warcraft: Dragonflight expansion in 2022, professions have gone through some major changes which include profession accessories, specializations, a profession stat system, and some new helpful recipes.

One of the many professions players can learn while playing World of Warcraft: Dragonflight is Alchemy. Alchemy allows players to craft basic potions as well as more advanced options such as phials or cauldrons. World of Warcraft: Dragonflight gives players a more customized experience when advancing through their chosen profession. Players will be able to choose to make personal items or shareable options for their whole raid or party to enjoy.

Learning Dragon Isles Alchemy

World of Warcraft Alchemy Trainer-1

When players first enter the Dragon Isles, they will be on the northern side of Waking Shores near the Wingrest Embassy. There are four alchemy trainers throughout the Dragon Isles, allowing players to have their pick of where they wish to advance their alchemy skills. Players must have 10 copper in their bag to learn the initial profession before they can purchase other alchemy recipes.

The first alchemy trainer in the Dragon Isles is located in the Wingrest Embassy, allowing players to start increasing their alchemy level right away. The second alchemy trainer is Zherrak, who is located at the Ruby Life Pools in the Waking Shores. The next trainer, Srireth, is camped at the Shady Sanctuary on the Ohn’ahran Plains. The fourth alchemy trainer, Conflago, is located in Valdrakkan, the capital of the Dragon Isles. Each trainer offers the same recipes, allowing players to resume their alchemy training in any of the four locations.

Increasing Alchemy Skill Level

World of Warcraft Skill Level

Leveling professions has become more challenging in the World of Warcraft: Dragonflight expansion. Players can learn recipes from alchemy profession trainers until they reach skill level 50. After that, there is nothing more the trainers can teach. From then on, any recipes players learn will be from the specialization talent trees. To learn recipes other than what the trainers provide, players will need to farm renown or use knowledge points to learn other recipes to get from 50 to 100 in alchemical skill level. As players increase their skill level, their phials and potions are made with higher quality.

Alchemy Specializations

World of Warcraft Potion Mastery 2

There are three alchemy specializations that alchemists can learn. Each specialization has various sub-specializations available, so alchemists can further master their craft. As long as they have the required knowledge and skill level, players can unlock their profession talent trees in any way they want. There is no right or wrong answer; it is a matter of preference when selecting which areas to focus on.

The three main specializations are potion mastery, phial mastery, and alchemical theory. Each specialization deals with air, frost, and other regents to make numerous helpful items.

Unlocking Specializations

When players first learn alchemy, specializations are not available right away. Alchemists must level their alchemy skill to 25 before they can access their first specialization. When selecting a specialization, players should evaluate which one benefits their needs the most, as specializations can't be reset once selected. Each sub-specialization offers different bonuses and recipes, allowing players to get a unique experience.

At alchemy skill level 50, the second specialization becomes available, and players may choose between the remaining two areas of focus. From there, players will access the remaining specialization when their alchemy skill level reaches 75.

Potion Mastery

Potion mastery allows players to focus on potion creation and to increase the quality of portions crafted. Potions can range from speed buffs to invisibility spells to hide from enemies. Potions have a limited time frame, ranging from single-use to a 30-second bonus.

Phial Mastery

Phial mastery is focused on mastering phials while improving their overall quality. Phials typically have longer buffs that last for 30 minutes but require more reagents to make. Certain phials may even have a stackable option allowing players to drink up to four to create a two-hour buff.

Alchemical Theory

Alchemical theory allows alchemists to improve their basic knowledge of alchemy to gain bonuses across the overall alchemy profession. For instance, players can focus on studying how to perfect their craft, so fewer resources are spent crafting potions or phials.

Crafting Station

World of Warcraft Alchemy Crafting Station

Advanced alchemy recipes will require players to use an Alchemy Crafting Station. Crafting stations are located near profession trainers in major cities throughout the Dragon Isles. Alchemists can't use an inscription, jewelcrafting, or other profession crafting stations, as their alchemy recipes will not appear.

Each Alchemy crafting table offers the same recipes and crafting speed. The crafting station also allows players to request or fill crafting orders throughout the week.

Profession Stat System

World of Warcraft Profession Stats-1

Profession stats can be increased as players advance their alchemy skills. These stats can be increased as players improve their skill profession skill level or with the help of alchemy equipment. There are four stats related to crafting Dragonflight alchemy:

  • Resourcefulness is the chance to use fewer tradable ingredients when crafting recipes. This will not decrease the amount of soulbound reagents that must be used for a certain recipe.
  • Inspiration is the chance to be inspired when crafting a recipe that has a higher quality than the player's current skill level.
  • Multicraft is the chance to create additional items when crafting numerous stackable recipes.
  • Crafting speed is self-explanatory; it affects the speed at which items are crafted.

Alchemy Equipment

World of Warcraft Alchemy Gear

To make specializing and increasing the alchemy crafting talent more customizable, the World of Warcraft: Dragonflight expansion introduced alchemy accessories and tools. These items can be used to increase a player's profession stats. Players can wear two alchemy accessories and one tool at a time. Unfortunately, the gear can't be used as a transmog, and will only appear as a short buff when players are working on their profession. Once a player has equipped their profession equipment, it will be removed from their personal storage bags and transfer to the profession window.
