World of Warcraft is marking the 10th Anniversary of Hearthstone by hosting a special event within its Retail realms. This celebration runs from March 11 to March 18, 2024 and invites players to log into World of Warcraft and take part in Hearthstone-themed festivities.
This special event introduces a new limited time boss with exclusive rewards, along with the chance to obtain two new flying mounts. If you're looking to add the Fiery Hearthsteed and Compass Rose mounts to your World of Warcraft mount collection, here's what to do.
World of Warcraft Dungeons Are Changing in Dragonflight Season 4
With Patch 10.2.6 and Dragonflight Season 4 coming soon, Blizzard reveals that dungeons and rewards are getting some significant changes.
How to Get the Fiery Hearthsteed Mount
Players who log in to World of Warcraft from March 11 to March 14, 2024, can obtain the Fiery Hearthsteed Mount, which is a scorching recolor of the original Hearthsteed mount released shortly after Hearthstone's launch in 2014. This mount is not available on WoW Classic realms.
To be eligible to receive this mount, players need to open Hearthstone on either desktop or a mobile device and complete the tutorial if it's their first time playing. After fulfilling this requirement, upon logging into World of Warcraft, the Fiery Hearthsteed will be automatically deposited into their Mount Journal as a gift box ready to be opened.
For players who haven't unlocked the original blue Hearthsteed yet, it remains available. You can earn this mount by winning three games in Hearthstone in either the Standard or Arena game modes.
How to Get the Compass Rose Mount
The Compass Rose is a Hearthstone-inspired mount mirroring the design of the logo found at the heart of the Hearthstone game box. This unique flying mount is one of only a handful of disc mounts in the game, like the Lorewalkers' Red Flying Cloud and the Tazavesh Gearglider. This distinctive design allows your character to stand atop it as it glides through the air.
The Compass Rose mount is available in World of Warcraft as a possible drop from a special event boss, Dr. Boom. This boss emerges from portals that appear at specific locations during the Hearthstone 10th Anniversary event. Only one portal will spawn at a time, and the order the portals spawn, along with its location in its respective city, will always remain the same.
- Valdrakken - Atop the Emerald Enclave tower at coordinates (62.2, 67.0)
- Stormwind - In the northeastern corner of the city, in the grassy clearing above the Harbor at coordinates (34.0, 21.0).
- Orgrimmar - Outside the city gates, directly north of Drygulch Ravine on the world map at coordinates (53.1, 16.2).
When a portal is about to spawn, an icon for an “Ominous Portal” will appear at the specified location. Once a five-minute countdown concludes, the portal activates, summoning two mobs and then the boss Dr. Boom for players to battle. This event boss offers a chance to drop various items, including the Compass Rose.
There's no loot lockout for Dr. Boom, allowing players to challenge and defeat him every hour, multiple times in a single day, to hopefully collect all available items. In addition to the Compass Rose, the 10th Anniversary Event of Hearthstone features exclusive loot drops from Dr. Boom, including:
