The Haranir, a new allied race coming in World of Warcraft: Midnight, will have several unique racial traits, including an area damage and healing ability, passive bonuses to critical damage, Herbalism, Finesse, extra damage and experience against certain creatures, and a special teleport that uses the roots of the world trees. Though they are subject to change, World of Warcraft fans now have a good idea as to what the Haranir’s racials will look like.

Every playable race in World of Warcraft has a unique set of active and passive racial traits that set them apart from others. WoW: Midnight is adding the Haranir as an allied race, a neutral group of subterranean tribespeople with a deep connection to nature.

World of Warcraft: Midnight Alpha Haranir Racial Traits

Now, World of Warcraft has revealed the racial traits this new allied race will have access to. Blizzard hasn’t debuted them officially, but the Haranir allied race banner can be found in the World of Warcraft: Midnight alpha, outside the embassies in Stormwind and Orgrimmar. Three of their traits are passives that give bonuses to Herbalism and Finesse, critical damage and healing, and damage to and experience from beasts, elementals, and aberrations respectively. Their two active abilities are Thorn Bloom, which damages enemies and heals allies in an area, and Rootwalking, a unique teleportation skill.

  • Thorn Bloom: Deal Nature damage to enemies and heal allies.
  • Lash Out: Increases the damage and healing of your critical strikes.
  • One With Nature: Increases Herbalism skill and Finesse. Finesse increases the chance of obtaining extra materials.
  • Subterranean Predator: Gain more experience and deal extra damage when fighting beasts, elementals, or aberrations.
  • Rootwalking: Teleport to Harandar or the world trees throughout the world.

Of their abilities, Rootwalking may be the most unique. The exact mechanics are still unclear, but it allows Haranir to teleport directly to Harandar, their home and one of the new zones in WoW: Midnight. From there, they can seemingly teleport through the roots of the many world trees of Azeroth to quickly travel across the game world, ostensibly with landmarks like Nordrassil, Teldrassil, Vordrassil, Shaladrassil, and Amirdrassil as as destinations.

There are currently no plans to test the Haranir during the Midnight alpha. However, World of Warcraft has confirmed the new allied race will be available during the beta. Players hoping to try out the Haranir before their official arrival should be sure to opt in to the beta on the official website, or purchase the Epic Edition of WoW: Midnight to guarantee themselves access to it.

Regardless, once World of Warcraft: Midnight is released, players won’t be able to play the Haranir immediately. As an allied race, they will need to be unlocked, and while the exact requirements have not yet been revealed, players will probably need to complete the main story of Midnight, and likely a handful of sidequests that explore their culture to do so.
