World of Warcraft characters are not able to engage with the Player Housing system in Midnight until they choose a faction. While this won’t affect most World of Warcraft fans, some who choose to level through special factionless challenges are not going to be able to enjoy the major Midnight feature unless they leave their starting experiences and join the Alliance or Horde.
Player Housing is a critically acclaimed feature being introduced in the Midnight expansion. That said, fans won’t have to wait until next year to get their hands on it; early access to Housing starts December 2 as a part of WoW Patch 11.2.7, “The Warning.”
Hallow's End Has Returned To World of Warcraft With New Rewards
World of Warcraft's annual Hallow's End event is back with new cosmetic rewards that players can earn throughout the rest of October.
Neutral World of Warcraft Characters Can’t Access Player Housing
However, there is a small subset of World of Warcraft characters that will not be able to access Player Housing during this update or when Midnight releases. While exploring the new system during the WoW Patch 11.2.7 PTR Housing Feature Test the weekend of October 17, streamer and World of Warcraft fan NeutralAgent discovered he was unable to teleport to either housing zone on a neutral Pandaren character. He chronicled the failed attempt to do so while streaming on Twitch, proving Housing is technically not available to Pandaren who have not finished their starting area and joined a faction.
Dracthyr Evokers are also neutral before finishing their starting experience, and would ostensibly be hit with the same restriction.
NeutralAgent is a World of Warcraft player whose claim to fame was raising a Pandaren character to maximum level without leaving the starting zone over the course of many hours, primarily through picking flowers with Herbalism. He has proceeded to repeat this feat in every single World of Warcraft expansion, getting tons of characters to the level cap. As of The War Within, he has reached the level cap of 80 with all eight classes currently available to Pandaren, and is ready to repeat this feat in Midnight.
Though it is unfortunate for fans like NeutralAgent, it does make sense that neutral characters cannot go to these Housing neighborhoods. The zones are not locked to Alliance or Horde only, but they are still keyed to each faction all the same. Unfortunately, this is also unlikely to change in release, as it would make a place for neutral characters to interface with Alliance and Horde toons, a feat that is currently not possible in the game, and that would cause all manner of logistical problems if it was introduced.
Luckily, the vast majority of other World of Warcraft players will not be affected by this limitation. Once it arrives, fans need only pre-purchase World of Warcraft: Midnight and make a character to enjoy Housing – so long as they are not a Neutral Pandaren or Dracthyr character.
