Twilight Ascension, the Pre-Patch event for World of Warcraft: Midnight, begins soon, and ahead of it, Blizzard has revealed a huge list of cosmetic rewards that can be obtained from its activities. From mounts and pets to Transmogs and Housing decor, World of Warcraft fans can collect all sorts of stuff in the event.
The World of Warcraft: Midnight Pre-Expansion Update launched on January 20, bringing most of the core system updates of the impending DLC to the game ahead of its full release. A stat and item level squish, revamps to every talent tree in the game, the new Devourer Demon Hunter specialization, and more are now available for all players, even if they don’t own the Midnight expansion yet.

WoW: Midnight Twilight Ascension Pre-Patch Event Explained
However, the main event of the World of Warcraft: Midnight Pre-Patch is only just getting ready to begin. No WoW expansion would be complete without a Pre-Patch event, and the one for Midnight is called Twilight Ascension. From January 27 through WoW: Midnight’s release on March 2, characters of level 10 and above can start “The Cult Within” storyline from Magister Umbric in Stormwind for Alliance, or Grand Magister Rommath in Orgrimmar for Horde. Following the questline leads players to the Twilight Highlands, where they will earn the “Definitely Not a Cultist” title and unlock the repeatable activities for their account.
From there, fans can take on two weekly quests, “Disrupt the Call” and “Twilight’s Dawn,” complete Twilight Highlands World Quests, and defeat rare enemies in order to earn Twilight Blade Insignias. This event currency can then be exchanged for tons of different exclusive rewards, including Champion-tier Ascension Arrestors catch-up gear, Transmog ensembles like the Well-Worn Twilight Cultist’s Attire, the Retrained Skyrazor mount, and three different pets and Silvermoon Housing decor items.

The Twilight Ascension decor for use in World of Warcraft's new Housing system will be available for purchase after the event from Dethelin, a vendor in Midnight’s version of Silvermoon City. That said, the rest of the items are exclusive to the Pre-Patch event, so players should prioritize those first and foremost. Any unspent Twilight’s Blade Insignias at the end of the event will be converted to Resonance Crystals, the general Renown currency from The War Within.
Beyond these vendor rewards, fans can also obtain two unique achievements: Two Minutes to Midnight and Crunching for Cultists. Two Minutes to Midnight is earned by defeating each of the bosses summoned by the Twilight’s Blade during the event, and rewards the Light-Forged Mechsuit mount and the “Thorn of Twilight” title. Crunching for Cultists is obtained by winning the Twilight’s Blade Stratagem minigame at the Twilight Ascension basecamp, but otherwise includes no additional rewards beyond bragging rights for World of Warcraft completionists.
What Else Is Going on in World of Warcraft Right Now?
There are two other ongoing events that will intersect with the Midnight Pre-Patch event. The Turbulent Timeways in World of Warcraft doesn't end until February 10, giving players a couple more weeks to run through Timewalking dungeons and earn the Master of the Timeways buff for a 30% experience boost. Combined with the 20% available during the Winds of Mysterious Fortune, active until Midnight’s release, the Pre-Patch event will be an excellent place to level up.
Characters can use the Bottle of Mysterious Fortune consumables to gain an additional 10% experience bonus that stacks with the event buffs, and that does not expire when the event ends.
World of Warcraft: Midnight itself releases on March 2, but some players can actually play even earlier. The WoW: Midnight Epic Edition includes three days early access, meaning these fans will be able to head back to Silvermoon no later than February 28. Luckily, players who don’t have this premium edition will still be able to enjoy the Pre-Patch event during this time, as it does not end until the official launch of the expansion.
