From there, only one more major patch remains for World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Classic, with Hour of Twilight currently planned for January 2025. At the moment, fans don’t know what is in store for the Classic progression realms after this final update.
World of Warcraft Classic Getting Big Update on October 29
World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Classic will receive a major update on the last Tuesday of October that brings a fan-favorite raid to the game.
However, World of Warcraft may have just confirmed the next destination on the Classic journey. In a recent build of the Cataclysm Classic PTR, two new mounts have been added: a Sha-corrupted tiger and cloud serpent, both of which could easily be associated with a theoretical Mists of Pandaria Classic expansion. World of Warcraft content creator MrGM captured footage of the new mounts in action and shared them on Twitter.
Sha-Touched Mounts – WoW: Mists of Pandaria Classic Coming Soon?
These mounts would be the perfect picks for the Mists of Pandaria Classic upgrade, assuming it is announced. Each Classic expansion has featured unique and visually stunning mounts in their respective optional bundles. If these new mounts end up being in the theoretical optional upgrade for Mists of Pandaria, similar to the Avatar of Flame and Runebound Firelord from World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Classic, it is possible that one or both could get a version for modern WoW as well.
If World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria Classic is coming, players could hear an announcement for it soon. During World of Warcraft’s presentation at Gamescom 2024, it confirmed the very first Warcraft Direct would happen before the end of the year, ostensibly to celebrate the franchise’s 30-year anniversary on November 15 and WoW’s 20th anniversary on November 23, so it would not be surprising for the showcase to take place around then.
Of course, some fans wonder if World of Warcraft Classic even needs to go to Mists of Pandaria. Modern World of Warcraft only just recently finished up the Mists of Pandaria Remix event, prompting the question of whether Classic needs to retread that ground. That said, the excitement that has been sparked by this rumor alone suggests players would love to see World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria Classic, so it seems WoW Remix only made fans even more excited about the expansion than they might have been.
