While hitting max level in World of Warcraft: Dragonflight is normally nothing special, one player has done so without leaving their starting area or joining a faction. This World of Warcraft player has continued a nine-year tradition by reaching max level on their neutral Pandaren shaman. On December 29, 2013, World of Warcraft player Doubleagent was the first player in history to reach the maximum level of 80 during Mists of Pandaria without leaving the Wandering Isle, the Pandaren starting area, or choosing a faction. In every expansion since, Doubleagent has returned to his humble World of Warcraft quest of hitting level cap on his neutral Pandaren character. Now, Doubleagent has repeated this feat once more for Dragonflight. He reached level 70 on December 10, about 12 days after Dragonflight’s launch on November 28. He also shared his total playtime on this legendary character, with 212 days and 22 hours logged on his journey so far. According to Doubleagent, most of this time was logged during Mists of Pandaria in the initial leveling sprint, and during the pre-level squish era of World of Warcraft.
Because Doubleagent has vastly outleveled the monsters in the Wandering Isle, the only effective way Doubleagent has of gaining experience is by mining and herbalism. Each instance of gathering only grants 50 experience points, but with enough determination, dedication, and time, Doubleagent has proven such humble professions in World of Warcraft can lead to greatness.
Luckily for Doubleagent, Dragonflight made the leveling process faster and more streamlined than ever before. With significantly reduced experience requirements for hitting maximum level, his process of hitting max level in Dragonflight was one of the quickest in his history. Outside the Wandering Isle, many players have devised techniques for powerleveling in the new expansion, with players hitting max level mere hours after Dragonflight’s launch
Every two years, the World of Warcraft community is surprised to find Doubleagent is still at it. Whenever a new expansion launches, Doubleagent reappears to chronicle his climb to max level, only to disappear until the next one releases. Players can’t help but be impressed by his pure dedication. Some wonder if Doubleagent will finally choose a faction when World of Warcraft inevitably shuts down in the distant future. Others have posited that Doubleagent should make a Dracthyr character, since Dragonflight’s new race is also neutral until they finish their starting area and choose a faction. Nevertheless, players can undoubtedly expect to see Doubleagent return in a couple of years to repeat his feat once the level cap increases once more.
World of Warcraft: Dragonflight is available now for PC.
