World of Warcraft is bringing back old anniversary rewards from the past for its upcoming 20th anniversary, including highly-desired items like the Obsidian Worldbreaker mount. These World of Warcraft items have been unavailable since the end of their respective anniversary celebrations, meaning some of these collectibles are coming back for the first time in 16 years.
The 20-year anniversary of World of Warcraft is on November 23. To celebrate, World of Warcraft is holding one of its biggest in-game events in history, featuring new instances like the revamped Blackrock Depths raid, activities like the Codex of Chromie scenario, and the advent of Classic Timewalking. Players can get tons of awesome cosmetics from the event, including revamped versions of the iconic Tier 2 armor sets in World of Warcraft.
However, some of the items players can collect have been unavailable for a decade or longer. In the past, Blizzard has given out free items for major anniversary milestones, such as the Molten Corgi for World of Warcraft's 10th anniversary, or the Obsidian Worldbreaker for its 15th. Once these milestones came and went, these free items became unobtainable. Now, it and almost every other anniversary reward from the past is coming back to a special vendor who offers them in exchange for a modest sum of Bronze Celebration Tokens.

Most of these rewards are from the 5th, 10th, and 15th anniversaries, meaning none of these rewards have been available in at least five years. That said, the Baby Blizzard Bear pet, offered to players for the game’s fourth anniversary, hasn't been available for 16 years. The two mounts are only 20 Bronze Celebration Tokens – a fourth of what a single Tier 2 set costs – so fans should have no trouble picking up all the anniversary items they missed out on. The Lil’ Frostwing pet and Azure Worldchiller mount from World of Warcraft’s 19th anniversary do not appear at this vendor, though they may be obtainable through other means during the event.
Needless to say, fans are overjoyed to finally get another chance to earn these rewards. World of Warcraft has been around for a long time – some players today may have been infants when some of these anniversaries first happened. Giving players another chance to obtain these rewards helps to reduce FOMO, which is always a good thing to aim for in MMORPGs.
According to the calendar on the PTR, World of Warcraft's 20th anniversary event is planned to run from October 22 through January 7, giving players 77 days to enjoy it. Fans should be sure to pick up these anniversary rewards during the celebration, as it could be several years before they have the chance to get them again.
