Blizzard announced that World of Warcraft Patch 11.1.7, Legacy of Arathor, will go live on Tuesday, June 17, following server maintenance. The Legacy of Arathor update will add a new story campaign for World of Warcraft players to experience across faction-exclusive points of view, along with new features to improve players' quality of life.

The headline campaign of Patch 11.1.7 will take World of Warcraft players back to the Arathi Highlands as characters like Danath Trollbane, Geta'rah, and Faerin work together to calm lingering tensions between the Alliance and the Horde and deal with a threat to both factions. World of Warcraft's next update will also include the Lorewalking feature, which will give players a chance to experience the backstories of The War Within's main villain, Xal'atath, and the mysterious Ethereal race for the first time. Lorewalking will also allow players to revisit the harrowing and tragic tale of Arthas, the Lich King, once the update goes live.

World of Warcraft’s Winds of Mysterious Fortune Event Could Be Coming Back Soon

World of Warcraft's next content patch could see the popular Winds of Mysterious Fortune event make a return sooner than players think.

Along with new story content, World of Warcraft's 11.1.7 update will make some quality-of-life changes that players can utilize. According to Blizzard, the Combat Assistant and Single-Button Assistant features will give players additional ways to learn a new specialization or make controlling their character slightly easier. The Combat Assistant will highlight recommended abilities on the user interface, similar to the popular add-on called Hekili. However, the Single-Button Assistant will have a longer global cooldown (GCD) than the base GCD of 1.5 seconds as a trade-off.

World of Warcraft Patch 11.1.7 Goes Live On June 17

  • World of Warcraft's Legacy of Arathor update will add a new Arathi Highlands story campaign.
  • Battle for Azeroth Timewalking will begin along with the next iteration of the Turbulent Timeways.
  • Lorewalking will offer players a way to experience the backstories of characters like Xal'atath and Arthas.
  • The Greedy Emissary returns on July 1, two weeks after Patch 11.1.7 goes live.

Like the Cooldown Tracker introduced in Patch 11.1.5, the Combat Assistant and Single-Button Assistant are intended as a way to provide World of Warcraft players with additional tools as part of the base game without the need to download any add-ons. The Combat Assistant and Single-Button Assistant can be toggled on or off in the game's settings.

The Legacy of Arathor update will also introduce Battle for Azeroth Timewalking and bring back the Turbulent Timeways event as a way for players to quickly level and gear up their characters. World of Warcraft's upcoming iteration of the Turbulent Timeways will span six weeks, and players can earn the draconic Chrono Corsair mount as a reward for braving dungeons from the game's long history.

A few weeks after Patch 11.1.7 goes live, the Greedy Emissary crossover event with Diablo 4 will return on July 1, with new class-based cosmetic armor sets for players to obtain. Although Legacy of Arathor is considered a smaller update, World of Warcraft players will have plenty to do once June 17 arrives.
