Blizzard revealed how some World of Warcraft player housing items may be obtained in the upcoming Midnight expansion. Although some World of Warcraft housing items will be purchased for gold via NPC vendors, other furnishings may be crafted by different professions, dropped from bosses, or earned via past and current achievements.
Player housing in World of Warcraft will be available during the Midnight expansion, which has a tentative launch window of late 2025 to early 2026. While the past Garrison feature from Warlords of Draenor provided players with a home base that could be customized, it was inevitably left behind after just one expansion. Blizzard stated that player housing would be independent of any expansions and could be customized with basic and advanced placement controls. Additionally, player housing will provide instanced plots and neighborhoods for all Alliance and Horde champions to enjoy between dungeon and raid content waves.

While player housing is still deep into development ahead of Midnight, Blizzard gave World of Warcraft players another look at the anticipated feature. Blizzard shared how some housing items could be obtained. To start, some common housing items like wooden chairs and shelves can be readily purchased from vendors for a cheap price. Some housing items themed around specific factions or races can be crafted via professions, sold at the Auction House, or purchased via reputation vendors across Azeroth.

World of Warcraft provided an example of how a Stormwind Hall Rug could be bought for gold after reaching the Revered reputation rank with Stormwind City. Legacy raids like Onyxia's Lair will also reward the Head of the Broodmother as a decorative trophy after earning the "More Dots! (25 player)" achievement for beating Onyxia in less than five minutes.
However, Blizzard eased some concerns about how obtaining some player housing items could turn into a similar grind that rare mounts like Invincible still entail. In short, the World of Warcraft developers stated that "transmog runs" for housing items will not be considered. Other methods relevant to legacy content, like currencies and reputations, will still be utilized for housing rewards. Meta-achievements from past expansions like Dragonflight will also offer decorative rewards, meaning players can progress through them now ahead of Midnight.
Blizzard added that some decorations, like Onyxia's head, will be considered unique furnishings, meaning players can only put up one regardless of how many copies they have. Though the upcoming World of Warcraft expansion is several months away, only time will tell how Blizzard will pull off a successful player housing launch.
