Summary

  • Patch 11.1 will offer a profession specialization reset, allowing reallocating knowledge points.
  • Enchanted Crests will no longer be crafted, but purchased from vendors or Syenite.
  • Weapon enchants, embellishments, and consumables will undergo buffs in Patch 11.1.

In an update to the World of Warcraft public test realm (PTR) client, Blizzard confirmed that professions will receive major changes once Patch 11.1 goes live on February 25. These changes include granting World of Warcraft players an easier way to obtain Enchanted Crests used to make gear, and a one-time specialization point reset for each profession.

Patch 11.1, Undermined, will go live on Tuesday, February 25, after World of Warcraft's servers undergo lengthy maintenance. The first major content update for The War Within since the expansion's launch will take players to the Undermine, the goblins' fabled underground capital city. Additionally, Season 2 of The War Within will go live on March 4, one week after Patch 11.1's launch. Once the Undermined update and Season 2 are out, some rewards from Season 1 will no longer be obtainable. Ergo, players will have just a few more days to finish any exclusive Season 1 activities in World of Warcraft.

While major class changes will be part of Patch 11.1, World of Warcraft will update professions in ways players will immediately notice. Starting February 25, World of Warcraft players can reset their profession specialization points once Patch 11.1 goes live following server maintenance. This optional change will apply to both the Dragon Isles and Khaz Algar profession branches, but can only be done once per profession and once per branch on any character. This will allow professions like Engineering, Mining, and Alchemy to reallocate knowledge points into different specialization areas. Alongside the profession specialization reset, Enchanted Crests will no longer be crafted by Enchanters in Patch 11.1. Instead, World of Warcraft players can purchase them using Season 2's Undermine Crests at Enchanting Supplies vendors throughout Khaz Algar, or by speaking to Syenite outside the Crafter's Enclave in Dornogal.

Considering the updates to gear drops from Delves and Mythic+ Dungeons coming in Patch 11.1, the changes to Enchanted Crests should give World of Warcraft players more options for gearing up their characters quickly. With the changes to professions and class balance, some weapon enchants, embellishments, and consumable items will be buffed to compensate. For example, weapon enchants like Authority of Radiant Power and Authority of Storys will increase damage dealt by higher amounts than they did in Season 1.

Along with the changes coming in Patch 11.1, World of Warcraft players can soon earn a free Twitch Drops pet for their collections. With Undermined arriving on February 25, only time will tell how Blizzard will continue to keep professions fresh for players.

World of Warcraft PTR Update Notes (February 21, 2025)

The following professions changes will be available in Undermine(d) next week:

Specialization Resets

With 11.1.0, we are offering an opportunity to reset your specializations which can be utilized once per Dragon Isles profession and once per Khaz Algar profession. Doing so will unlearn all recipes and benefits granted by your specializations and refund your spent knowledge points. The following NPCs allow you to access this feature:

  • Darla Fluxy can be found in Dornogal, outside of the Crafter’s Enclave.
  • Siben can be found in Valdrakken’s Artisan’s Market, next to the Jewelcrafting station.

To help simplify some of the crafting process, Enchanted Crests are no longer made by Enchanters and are instead purchasable from Enchanting Supplies vendors or Syenite outside of the Crafter’s Enclave in Dornogal.
