World of Warcraft just announced Turbo Boost, an event that will help players gear up for the remainder of The War Within Season 2. With a weekly quest that rewards extra raid gear, improvements to Delve rewards and progression, and more, this World of Warcraft progression boost lasts from May 13 until Patch 11.2 launches several months from now.
On April 22, World of Warcraft released Patch 11.1.5, introducing the Nightfall scenario, Cooldown Manager, and Winds of Mysterious Fortune leveling event to the game. It also marked the first of two updates between Patch 11.1, Undermine(d), and Patch 11.2, meaning players are roughly a third of the way through The War Within Season 2.
Blizzard Issues Statement on World of Warcraft Great Vault Duplicate Bug
Blizzard Entertainment releases a statement regarding the repeated rewards issue found in World of Warcraft's Great Vault, and a fix is imminent.
To help fans along for the rest of the season, World of Warcraft has announced a brand-new event. Titled Turbo Boost, this update speeds up gearing and progression across the board. Hero and Myth gear will have their upgrade tracks extended to eight levels, Warbound until Equipped gear will drop twice as often from Mythic+ dungeons, and Delves will grant more rewards, Delver’s Journey progress, and experience for Brann. What’s more, crafters can further enhance gear made with Sparks of Fortune by using Augmentation Matrices, the cap on Crests will be removed, and Valorstones can be transferred to other World of Warcraft characters on one's account. This event goes live on May 13, and will last for the remainder of Season 2.
World of Warcraft: The War Within Season 2 Turbo Boost Details
- Hero and Myth gear upgrade tracks extended to 8 (was 6)
- Mythic+ drop rates for Warband until Equipped gear doubled
- Cap for Crests lifted
- Valorstones transferrable across Warband
- Delves provide bonus Crests, Valorstones, Delver's Journey progress, and experience for Brann

New weekly quest to earn Puzzling Cartel Chips
- Defeat four Liberation of Undermine bosses to earn one Puzzling Cartel Chip
- Three Puzzling Cartel Chips can purchase one piece of raid gear, six maximum per character
- Heroic and Mythic gear requires associated bosses to be defeated on that difficulty
There is also a new weekly quest that will help players get raid gear. By defeating four bosses from Liberation of Undermine, fans can earn a Puzzling Cartel Chip. Turning three of them into Wrexxle in Dornogal near the Great Vault allows one to purchase any piece of raid gear, though buying Heroic or Mythic gear requires players to have defeated the boss at least once on that difficulty. Each character can earn six Puzzling Cartel Chips, meaning they will be able to buy a total of two pieces of gear.
While fans are happy to see these improvements being made, they are surprised to see them made so early in the season. Additionally, the Heroic and Mythic gear restrictions for Puzzling Cartel Chips have disappointed many, especially when comparing the system to similar ones from the past, such as Puzzling Cartel Dinars from Shadowlands or Antique Bronze Bullions from WoW: Dragonflight.
Puzzlingly, this update marks yet another aspect of World of Warcraft Patch 11.1.5 that didn’t arrive on launch day. With many of the update’s features unavailable for several weeks, content that did arrive being riddled with bugs, and concerns about Turbo Boost, many players have not been satisfied with Patch 11.1.5 so far. Hopefully, World of Warcraft can continue to make improvements to correct that in future updates.
