World of Warcraft is bringing back the Winds of Mysterious Fortune leveling and reputation event from July 15 until August 12. During this time, World of Warcraft players will receive a blanket 20% experience buff with consumables that can increase it even higher, extra loot drops from mobs and quests, and bonus reputation gains with most factions from Dragonflight and The War Within.

The Winds of Mysterious Fortune is a leveling event first introduced in World of Warcraft Patch 11.1.5. Though there had been no formal announcement previously, the calendar on the WoW Public Test Realm suggested the Winds of Mysterious Fortune might return in July.

World of Warcraft players can maximize their farming strategy for the new Greedy Emissary event with one specific route.

Now, Blizzard has confirmed this event is indeed returning, and has outlined when fans can expect it. From July 15 until August 12, World of Warcraft players can benefit from the Winds of Mysterious Fortune buff – a 20% boost to all experience that kicks in at level 10. Fans can also collect Mysterious Satchels while completing quests or looting creatures, which drop gear, consumables that provide stat boosts or fun cosmetic effects, and even 10% experience potions that stack with the base buff. Additionally, most reputation gains for most Dragonflight factions are tripled, while ones from The War Within are doubled.

World of Warcraft Winds of Mysterious Fortune Event Dates

  • From July 15 until August 12

The first run of the Winds of Mysterious Fortune event took place from April 22 through May 20 during WoW Patch 11.1.5, only to return during 11.1.7. It remains to be seen if World of Warcraft will continue to bring it back in the latter half of every update, or if it will have a more sporadic schedule.

The experience buff from Winds of Mysterious Fortune also stacks with the one from the Turbulent Timeways event live in World of Warcraft from now through August 4. Players can combine the 30% boost from this Timewalking activity with the 20% base from the Winds of Mysterious Fortune, 10% from the consumable potions, and 25% from the permanent Warband bonus to get a total of 85% extra experience from all content for several weeks.

This leveling event is the perfect way for fans to pass the time until the release of Patch 11.2, Ghosts of K’aresh. World of Warcraft just confirmed August 5 as the release date for this major content update. The Winds of Mysterious Fortune will be in effect for the first week of the patch, with The War Within Season 3 kicking off right when the event ends on August 12.
