There's a lot of hype around World of Warcraft's newly revealed Midnight expansion, which is coming sometime next year before June 30. Several core features have already been revealed, including a new Demon Hunter spec, WoW's Haranir race becoming playable, the Prey hunting contracts, the various new or reimagined zones, player housing, and so forth. More will likely be shared by Blizzard in the coming months, be it with the alpha and beta tests presumably coming even before the end of the year or via additional trailers. Still, one of the most anticipated features for Midnight is seemingly not there, which essentially confirms it for The Last Titan.
The Last Titan is the final expansion for The War Within / Worldsoul saga, and at this stage, the only thing confirmed for it is the title. It only makes sense considering that World of Warcraft's Midnight has yet to come out, but there are a few educated guesses one can make based on the story so far. For example, Azeroth's Radiant Song is the reason for the hero's trip to Silithus and the inciting incident for the entire The War Within campaign, so it would make sense for the Worldsoul saga to eventually add a Bard class - and something like that is most likely reserved for The Last Titan now.

Why No New Class in Midnight is Good News For WoW's The Last Titan
The last class added to the game is World of Warcraft's Evoker, which came out in November of 2022 alongside the Dragonflight expansion. As such, a new class is arguably overdue now that Midnight is not adding any, so either Blizzard releases one in The Last Titan between 2027 and 2028, or this may have to wait until 2029 or 2030, which would be way too big a gap since Dragonflight. Midnight made perfect sense for a new class in terms of timeline, so The Last Titan can't really afford to miss that boat.
World of Warcraft's New Class Concepts Explained
Fortunately, this also lines up with a few things. For starters, in December of last year, some fans were sent a survey in German regarding possible classes in World of Warcraft, specifying these were just concepts and not something that would translate 1:1 into the game. Among these were:
- Apothecary
- Astrologian
- Bard
- Witch
- Celestial Lancer
- Battlemage
- Artificer
- Leyweaver
- Gunner
- Prismatic
- Gunslinger
- Titankiller
- Necromancer
- Tinker
- Warden
- Spellbreaker
The Bard stands out in this selection because the concept is that it would use the Radiant Song to cast spells, support allies, and weaken enemies, with roles like Support, Healer, and Tank being available. Considering the focus on the Radiant Song in World of Warcraft's Worldsoul saga, it would be fitting for Bards to gain their powers at the start of The Last Titan and become a playable class.
Among other concepts that would fit perfectly with WoW's The Last Titan are the Artificer (melee DPS/Tank/Healer with flails and reactive shields) and Tinker (DPS/Tank/Healer with mech-suits and constructs). These are both classes that use Titan technology to fuel their creations, according to the survey, and since this archetype has long been requested by fans, they would fit the bill as the next playable class.
Celestial Lancer, Prismatic, and Titankiller all use Titan-related powers, so they would make sense as well. The Witch uses old magic, and the Leyweaver uses Azeroth's natural powers, so they would also be good for the final chapter of WoW's Worldsoul saga.
World of Warcraft's Class and Race in New Expansions Pattern Explained
It's also worth noting that there is a pattern of sorts to WoW expansions and new classes or races. It goes as follows:
|
Expansion Name |
Release Year |
New Class and/or Race |
|
The Burning Crusade |
2007 |
No new class, playable Draenei and Blood Elves |
|
Wrath of the Lich King |
2008 |
Death Knight class, no new race |
|
Cataclysm |
2010 |
No new class, playable Worgen and Goblin |
|
Mists of Pandaria |
2012 |
Monk class, playable Pandaren |
|
Warlords of Draenor |
2014 |
N/A |
|
Legion |
2016 |
Demon Hunter class, no new race |
|
Battle for Azeroth |
2018 |
No new class, playable Void Elf, Lightforged Draenei, Dark Iron Dwarves, Kul Tiran, Mechagnomes, Mag'har Orcs, Zandalari Trolls, Vulpera, Nightborne, and Highmountain Tauren |
|
Shadowlands |
2020 |
N/A |
|
Dragonflight |
2022 |
Evoker class, playable Dracthyr |
|
The War Within |
2024 |
No new class, playable Earthen |
|
Midnight |
2026 |
No new class, playable Haranir |
This means that, generally speaking, a new class is introduced every other expansion on average, with the biggest gap being between the Demon Hunter and the Evoker, with two expansions separating them instead of one. Midnight does have a new spec for Demon Hunters in WoW, but that doesn't really count as an entire new class.
In fact, the big draw is that Midnight adds playable Haranir in WoW. What follows is that, between the survey listing new class concepts, including several Titan-related classes, and the fact that the current pattern would have seen a new class in Midnight, all point to The Last Titan as the next best place for this feature. Considering that Dragonflight, The War Within, and Midnight all include new races, The Last Titan is likely to include none, but a new playable class or even two would make perfect sense.
