In World of Warcraft Classic Season of Discovery Phase 8, players must jump down into the Scarlet Enclave raid – but if they land on a haystack, they take no falling damage. This charming reference to Assassin’s Creed can be found near the start of the first original raid in World of Warcraft Classic Season of Discovery.
Season of Discovery is the ongoing World of Warcraft Classic experiment in which Blizzard mixes things up with class-altering Rune Engravings, new quests, and even original instances. Phase 8 took this to another level, as it was the first update to consist entirely of content never seen in the Vanilla WoW before, including the Scarlet Enclave raid located in the Tyr’s Hand region.
How World of Warcraft Classic Can Fix Warlords of Draenor
Warlords of Draenor had the potential to be one of World of Warcraft's greatest expansions, but Classic can change that.
However, the start of this brand-new raid features a charming reference to one of the most iconic action-adventure stealth games in history. During the start of the Scarlet Enclave raid in WoW Classic Season of Discovery, fans must jump down into Tyr’s Hand as they infiltrate the crusaders’ stronghold. While characters typically take fall damage when jumping from that height, WoW content creator MrGM pointed out on Twitter that players who successfully land on the nearby pile of hay negate any fall damage. Fans familiar with the Assassin’s Creed game series will immediately recognize this iconic mechanic from the Ubisoft games.
Assassin’s Creed Haystack in World of Warcraft Classic Season of Discovery's Scarlet Enclave
Haystacks are one of the most iconic and recognizable hiding places players can utilize in Assassin’s Creed. Beyond that, haystacks are also used as safe landing spots when performing a Leap of Faith from a high place, allowing one to drop from extremely high distances without taking damage. They have appeared in almost every game, save Assassin’s Creed Odyssey – and Yasuke even has a special animation in Assassin’s Creed Shadows where he spills out ungracefully onto the ground when trying to Leap of Faith into one, collapsing the haystack in the process.
As for the instance itself, many World of Warcraft Classic fans are calling the Scarlet Enclave one of the hardest raids in Vanilla WoW. While many raid groups have cleared it over the last month since its launch on April 10, it has tested Classic players’ resourcefulness due to high boss damage and health, difficult mechanics, and unfamiliar encounters.
Though Blizzard hasn’t officially confirmed it yet, evidence suggests WoW Classic Season of Discovery Phase 8 may be its last major update. While fans will be able to keep playing these characters in the future indefinitely, it remains to be seen exactly what will happen once Season of Discovery itself comes to an end.
