In World of Warcraft Classic Season of Discovery, Druid players who obtain Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros have their cat forms transformed into flaming lions. Though fans can get this fiery cosmetic in modern World of Warcraft, they have never been able to do so in Classic until now.
Recently, World of Warcraft launched Phase 4 of Season of Discovery. The first max-level update for the experimental servers added new things to the game, and made tons of changes to existing content. One such change came to Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros – one of the first Legendary weapons in World of Warcraft – which can now be used to great effect by Druids, as it grants a massive boost to their attack power while shapeshifted.
WoW Classic Players Find Secret Boss in Molten Core in Season of Discovery Phase 4
World of Warcraft Classic Season of Discovery players discover a brand-new secret boss in Molten Core that has never been seen before.
However, Druids who collect Sulfuras have another secret in store for them. While the weapon is equipped, Druids who take their cat form have its default appearance transformed into a flaming lion reminiscent of the Druids of the Flame from WoW: Cataclysm and Dragonflight. World of Warcraft player Oogieboogie was one of the first Druids to obtain Sulfuras and discover this secret, which their fellow Apex guild mate iamsplitter shared on Reddit.
Fire Cat Druid Form in WoW Classic Season of Discovery
Getting Sulfuras is no small feat. Doing so requires the Sulfuron Hammer, crafted by Blacksmiths using many rare ingredients from the Molten Core, and the
Eye of Sulfuras, which drops from Ragnaros himself. Luckily,
Sulfuron Ingots drop more frequently in Season of Discovery’s Molten Core, and Lava Cores and Fiery Cores can be bought for Tarnished Undermine Reals, making Sulfuras easier to acquire in Season of Discovery than ever before. Even so, the speed Oogieboogie obtained this weapon was truly impressive.

Players were overjoyed to discover this amazing Druid Easter egg in Season of Discovery. With all the surprises that have been found since the servers began, many had hoped Druids might have a way to customize their wild shape in some way. The forms used by the Druids of the Flame have also been popular among fans for a long time – WoW: Dragonflight even recently updated the old Druid of the Flame cat form from Cataclysm in Patch 10.2. Crafting Sulfuras is an expensive and time-consuming ordeal, but this new cosmetic alone is enough to inspire many Druid players to try.
Season of Discovery has been a delight for class fantasy, with special pets for Hunters, ambassador quests for Priests, and the ability for World of Warcraft Paladins to train their own squires. Players will have to see if any other classes get more of these surprises in future Season of Discovery updates.
