One of the most iconic parts of the vanilla WoW endgame has to be the Molten Core raid. In this legendary raid, players take on the lair of Ragnaros the Firelord – and now that it's finally included in Season of Discovery with the launch of Phase 4, players can head into the revamped lair of Ragnaros with new bosses to take on with their new Runes and abilities.
WoW SoD: Molten Core Raid Reset Time
World of Warcraft's Season of Discovery has added the Molten Core Raid. Here's everything players need to know about when it resets.
Though the raid doesn't release until the second week of SoD Phase 4, MC attunement is possible. This guide covers everything you need to know about how to get Molten Core Attunement, including instructions on how to start the MC attune quest in SoD, and what you need to do inside BRD to complete this raid pre-requisite.
Molten Core Raid Entrance Location
Molten Core is a unique Raid in WoW because it is technically located partway through another instance, Blackrock Depths. To get to the WoW Classic Molten Core raid entrance normally, you need to travel almost all of the way through Blackrock Depths to a bridge guarded by Fire Elementals, beyond which you should see the swirling green Raid entrance portal.
To sum up a lot of lore as briefly as possible, Molten Core is in BRD because the Dark Iron Dwarves dug too deep, summoned Ragnaros, and were enslaved by the Firelord.
But, after becoming attuned to Molten Core, you can actually skip past the run through BRD and teleport straight inside. To teleport to Molten Core, you must complete "Attunement to the Core" by finding the raid entrance during a BRD run, collecting an item, then returning to a High Elf who will only speak to you if you meet the level requirement.
How To Get Molten Core Attunement Walkthrough
First, Reach Level 55 And Head To Blackrock Mountain
To unlock Molten Core Attunement in the first place, you must be Level 55. Unfortunately, if you are below this level requirement and are running BRD for XP, you cannot get ahead on your MC attunement.
WoW SoD: All Phase 4 Ring Runes – Effects, Locations, & Class Restrictions
There are a total of 15 Ring Runes in WoW SoD P4, but not all of these Specialization Runes can be used by all classes in Phase 4.
Once you reach Level 55, head to Blackrock Mountain, walk down the chain and through the Mausoleum, then down the chain that leads into the quarry next to Blackrock Depths. After walking down this second chain, continue forward instead of turning right to find Lothros Riftwalker, a High Elf who will offer you the quest "Attunement To The Core".
Put Together A Dungeon Group & Head Into BRD
To complete "Attunement To The Core", WoW SoD players must head into the level 50 to 56-ish dungeon Blackrock Depths inside Blackrock Mountain. You will need one party member to have the Shadowforge Key, or a Rogue who has a high enough lockpicking to get past everything in BRD (about 260 should do it).
Though it is possible to solo Molten Core Attunement, there are a lot of different ways to approach the sprawling dungeon for every class. Generally, it is less of a hassle to put together a group at Level 55 and do a full run, or better yet, a group of players who just need MC attunement.
The item you need to collect within Blackrock Depths is the Core Fragment. This is located deep within the largest WoW Classic dungeon, right next to the Raid entrance itself.
Find The Core Fragment Next To The MC Raid Entrance Location
Head into BRD with your group and continue through the dungeon until you reach the Grim Guzzler. Beyond this point, after crossing a small metal platform into another room, you will find the boss Ambassador Flamelash.
WoW SoD: All Blackrock Depths Quests
Blackrock Depths is in World of Warcraft's Season of Discovery. Here are all the quests in the dungeon.
Defeat this boss, then continue into the curved room with a few groups of large Golems and Dark Iron dwarves.
Take the top platform to skip the bottom enemies, then continue into the next room to fight the Seven. After this, continue through to the next room to find The Molten Bridge, which leads to the Molten Core raid entrance. Defeat the two Fire Elemental groups on the bridge, then look for a conspicuous stalactite poking out of the cave wall just to the left of the Molten Core portal. Interact with this to get the Core Fragment.
Return To Lothros Riftwalker To Complete "Attunement To The Core"
Finish the dungeon, then head back to Lothros Riftwalker just outside the quarry, in the room below the second chain in the central cavern of Blackrock Mountain. Turn in the Core Fragment, and you will officially become attuned to Molten Core! WoW SoD players can speak with Lothros Riftwalker, once this quest is completed, to be instantly teleported inside the Molten Core instance.
Make sure everyone in your SoD P4 raid group has Molten Core attunement before it unlocks, or be prepared to run people through BRD to catch them up.
