WoW SoD: All Phase 4 Ring Runes (& Class Restrictions)

In every Phase for WoW Classic: Season of Discovery so far, every class has received a plethora of new Runes to slot into their gear, granting new abilities, passives, and other ways to change vanilla class gameplay. In Phase 4, every class gets new Runes for their Cloak slot, which each grant these version-defining abilities.

But in addition to these, there are a variety of new Ring Runes WoW SoD players can collect in P4. These Ring Runes are a little different because they can each be used by multiple classes. This guide explains what you need to do to find Ring Runes in SoD, and what each of the fifteen Ring Runes do (as well as which classes can use each Rune).

Updated July 16, 2024 by Erik Petrovich: After the first weekend of WoW SoD, the community has come together to discovery just about every new Phase 4 Rune – including every new Phase 4 Ring Rune location. These new Runes can only be acquired by finding specific Red Books spread throughout Azeroth, but finding each SoD Ring Rune location organically is next to impossible. This guide to all SoD P4 Ring Runes has been updated to provide detailed instructions to locate each of these Red Books, to help players get their Specialization runes faster to jump into endgame content more effectively.

How To Get Ring Runes In WoW SoD Phase 4

There are a total of 15 Ring Runes in SoD P4, but not every class has access to all of them. Each of the nine classes available in WoW SoD can only use certain weapon types, and in Phase 4, each class can only find and learn Ring Runes that correspond to these weapon types.

To find Ring Runes in Phase 4, you need to hunt down a variety of Skill Books found throughout level 50 to 60 zones. Simply clicking on and looting these Red Books will grant you the new Rune to equip from your Rune Menu. They are usually found in out-of-the-way locations, not quite directly in the path of quests or other objectives, and the books can often blend into the environment around them despite their bright red coloration.

But all Phase 4 Ring Runes locations follow this formula, and none of them require you to complete a series of quests or solve vague world puzzles – you just have to find the SoD Ring Rune book and read it to get each of these 15 new SoD Rine Runes.

How To Get Feral Combat Specialization Rune: To find the Feral Combat Specialization Rune location, go to the extreme north of Winterspring to a cove even further north of Frostsaber Rock (on the world map, it's about an inch above the "O" in "Frostsaber"). This SoD Ring Rune book is located around the coordinates (49, 8).

How To Get Defense Specialization Rune: To find the Defense Specialization Rune location, head to Lower Blackrock Spire, specifically to its meeting stone near the instance portal. The Red Book should be inside a side room near the Meeting Stone. This SoD Ring Rune book is located around the coordinates (29.5, 38).
