Throughout the history of World of Warcraft, there has always been a journey to reach level cap. Some players get their faster than others, but eventually, most players reach it. This has not changed with The War Within, and it is only the beginning of the expansion.
Once you have reached Level 80 for the first time, a lot of expansion features open up to you. There is so much to do, that it can be a little disorienting for newer players. So here is what to do once you no longer need EXP to get to that next level.
Minor spoilers below, proceed with caution.
WoW: The War Within – How To Unlock Steady Flight In Khaz Algar (Pathfinder Achievement)
To be able to use the Steady Flight option in Khaz Algar, you must complete nearly all of the level-up zones in WoW: The War Within.
Do World Quests
Once you've completed the leveling campaign and reached Level 80, one feature that will unlock is Khaz Algar world quests. World quests have not changed much since their implementation back in Legion. There will be quests scattered across the zones, and if you complete them you will get rewards. These rewards will vary, but as a fresh Level 80, most if not all gear you obtain from world quests will prove to be substantial upgrades. You can also get Valorstones and Coffer Key Shards from World Quests.
While doing World Quests, keep an eye out for any rare spawns. These unique enemies can provide decent loot for fresh Level 80s, renown boosts, and even mounts in some cases.
Farm Renown
The Khaz Algar renown vendors have a variety of goods that will be useful for you once you've reached Level 80. This includes profession recipes and item level 584 Epics. While item level 584 Epic gear will not last long once Season 1 begins, it is a great option for players that want their item level to be as high as possible before Season 1 begins. Upgrades aside, there are a number of toys, pets, and mounts that you can unlock and purchase by improving your renown.
Go Do Some Delves
Delves are the new activity in The War Within, and while most of the endgame parts of it are not available yet, it isn't a bad idea to spend time in them. Aside from leveling up Brann, you can also get some decent gear when you are a fresh Level 80. This is especially the case if you have a Restored Coffer Key and do a Bountiful Delve. Bountiful Delves reward you with significantly better rewards on higher tier Delves. Endgame difficulty Delves (up to Tier 8) are also a great way to get Heroic Raid level loot for players who prefer not to do Raids or Mythic+ Dungeons.
Play PvP
While it isn't for everyone, there is always the option to load up a Battleground or Arena Skirmish and get back to fighting other players. Season 1 also has content for PvP players, so now is not a bad time to farm up some Honor in preparation for that.
WoW: The War Within – Season One Start Date & Raid Release Schedule
Mythic Plus progression and Raids won't unlock until The War Within Season One releases, which won't be for a few weeks after launch.
Work On Your Professions
You might be at Level 80, but are your Khaz Algar professions fully leveled up yet? Whether you use them to make money or for preparing for the endgame, spending some time on your professions can be especially beneficial while you are preparing for Season 1.
Prepare For Endgame Content
After reaching level cap, many players often set their sights on the endgame content. From Mythic+ to Raids, there is content for those who want to push their skills to the limit and get the best possible rewards that World of Warcraft has to offer. At the time of writing, The War Within has only one raid (Nerub-ar Palace) and some world bosses that are part of Season 1 content. Before the first Season begins, the best way to get your gear ready is by doing Heroic Dungeons to get some item level 571 gear.
Do the Level 80 Campaign
If you completed the leveling campaign and wanted more story, then you are in luck. After reaching Rank 4 with all factions in Khaz Algar, you will unlock a Level 80 campaign that continues where the leveling campaign left off. You can also get some item level 558 rewards from this campaign, which can help if you have some lower item level gear from leveling that you never replaced.
Do Side Quests
There are many new quests that are part of The War Within, and not all of them are part of the leveling campaign. There are many side quests across Khaz Algar that tell smaller stories about the denizens of those zones. They are completely optional, but if you want to get the most out of the story, it is recommended that you do them. Some side quests are even prerequisites for unlocking the Earthen as a playable race.
Level An Alt
Some players love to play a bunch of different characters rather than just having one main that they stick with. Other players get bored and want to play something that feels different from what they are used to. Whatever the reason, another good option is to pick another one of your characters and get them up to Level 80 as well. Every character that reaches Level 80 provides an account wide EXP boost as you level up your other characters. For example, if you have one Level 80, your next character has a permanent 5% EXP boost, decreasing the amount of time it takes to get to level cap. With two Level 80 characters, your third alt will have a 10% EXP boost. This bonus goes all the way up to 25% EXP.
