In Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, players will get to arm themselves with a variety of weapons that each have unique playstyles. Every weapon type in the game has something different to offer, and while all of them are strong, some are harder to use than others.
The following is a ranked list that briefly covers all five weapon types in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, including overviews on their strengths, weaknesses, and ideal playstyles. Items are ranked according to ease of use, so players can expect the weapons at the top of the list to be the ones that are the friendliest of beginners.

5 Dual Blades
High Risk, High Reward

|
|
Dual Blades in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers are simultaneously the easiest and hardest weapons to use. This weapon type relies heavily on Clash, which works very similarly to Super Armor in fighting games — when a Dual Blades attack hits at the same time as an enemy hits the player, the player receives reduced damage, and they won't get interrupted (unless they get hit by a particularly powerful strike). Clash only becomes available after players get the right Dual Blades skill from the Impetus Repository.
This Clash-oriented playstyle allows the Dual Blades users to spam attacks recklessly, but it also makes this weapon type the most prone to failure. Regardless, they're very fun to use, and with enough practice, players should be able to use Clash in a way that doesn't get them killed constantly.
4 Spear
Hit Them with the Pointy End

The Spear can be a bit confusing to use at first, but once players unlock more Discipline skills for it, it becomes significantly stronger and easier to handle. These weapons rely on Boldheart, a mechanic that lets players generate Boldheart stacks with their regular attacks that can be converted into Skyward Might after using a Weapon/Discipline skill.
Properly using Boldheart allows Spears to constantly generate Skyward Might, letting players spam their more powerful attacks without much risk of exhausting themselves. Combining this Skyward Might generation with the Feathering and Magic nodes in the Spear skill tree makes this weapon type quite decent for spellcaster builds.
This playstyle takes a bit of getting used to, but it is well worth mastering for players who are fans of this type of weapon.

3 One-Handed Sword
Graceful Moves and Powerful Magic
|
Pros |
Cons |
|---|---|
|
|
The One-Handed Sword features quick attacks with high-mobility Discipline skills that let players close gaps like nobody's business. It's very strong for hit-and-run tactics, but the One-Handed Sword's main appeal is its penchant for magic.
This weapon type has the best Skyward Might generation out of every other weapon type in the game. With the right Impetus Repository skills, it can generate Skyward Might passively, and it can generate even more through dash attacks, making it the perfect complement for a Magic-based build.
However, the One-Handed Sword enforces a Magic-heavy playstyle. The majority of the stat nodes in its Impetus Repository skill tree are either for the Magic or Feathering stats, which means that if players don't have a One-Handed Sword that scales off of these two, they'll need to rely mainly on spells to deal big damage.
2 Axe
Smash

Pros |
Cons |
|---|---|
|
|
These two-handed slabs of steel are capable of dealing immense damage with each swing. Axes sort of fill in for the heavy weapon archetype that's commonly seen in other Soulslike games, but instead of being cumbersome all the time, Axes in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers feature fast light attacks and some multi-hit Discipline skills that make them surprisingly reliable against most enemies.
This is definitely the weapon type for players who like dealing big damage in a single hit. However, while Axes have quick light attacks, stronger moves tend to have longer wind-up animations and are slower in general. Patience is still required when using this weapon type, and when it comes to fighting bosses with fast attacks, the Axe may struggle to deal with them.
1 Longsword
The Jack of All Trades
|
Pros |
Cons |
|---|---|
|
|
The Longsword is arguably the best weapon in the game — everything that the other weapons can do, the Longsword can do as well. It has the Skyward Might generation and attack range of the Spear, the heavy hits of the Axe, the retaliatory capability of the Dual Blades, and the Magic affinity of the One-Handed Sword.
However, like every other jack of all trades, the Longsword can't quite match the other weapons in terms of their individual specializations. Players will need to put in some extra effort if they want to maximize their damage with this weapon — the Longsword presents players with plenty of tools, but it also expects them to use all of those tools properly.
