The developer of the newly released Soulslike action RPG Wuchang: Fallen Feathers has issued a response to players experiencing problems with the game's performance. Some fans have also had trouble redeeming pre-order rewards, and in some regions, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers has been priced incorrectly, drawing even more ire from those eager to give the Chinese-developed title a try.

Hours after launch on July 24, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers reached an incredible Steam milestone, boasting over 100,000 concurrent players on the platform. The highly anticipated Soulslike title was first announced in 2021, but excitement reached a fever pitch after it was shown off during the June 2024 Xbox Games Showcase, promising stunning visuals and unique combat mechanics. Each time the protagonist Wuchang kills a humanoid enemy or is killed, her madness rises, and once it reaches a high enough level, she deals increased damage to enemies while also taking increased damage herself. While the game is also being praised for its level design and detailed skill tree, it is also facing increased backlash due to various problems present at launch. Thankfully, the studio behind it has already issued a detailed response for frustrated fans.

Wuchang: Fallen Feathers - Best Skills to Get First

There are many skills to unlock in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers across multiple branches of the skill tree; here are the best ones to get first.

In a new statement posted on Steam, Leenzee Games and 505 Games have addressed problems with Wuchang: Fallen Feathers' optimization on PC, along with several other issues. According to the developer, an upcoming patch will improve the game's performance, which many players have dubbed "another unstable Unreal Engine 5 title." Unfortunately, the release date of this patch is unknown. Additionally, some players have been unable to claim their pre-order rewards, which the developer claims is due to a bug that will also be addressed in the upcoming patch. As a gesture of goodwill, all players who purchased the title on Steam will receive a free digital copy of the game's soundtrack, and anyone who buys the Deluxe Edition will get a new exclusive costume in a future update. The studio is also aware that Wuchang: Fallen Feathers has been priced incorrectly in certain regions and is working to correct this.

A Wuchang: Fallen Feathers Patch Is Coming to Fix Ongoing Performance Issues

Those with an Xbox Game Pass subscription can play Wuchang: Fallen Feathers right now, as the ARPG was added to the service as a day-one title. More heavy hitters will be added soon, with Grounded 2 coming to the Ultimate tier on July 29 and Gears of War: Reloaded scheduled to release on August 26.

Alongside Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, 2025 has been a stacked year for Soulslikes, with players still enjoying Lies of P's DLC, The First Berserker: Khazan, and Elden Ring Nightreign. During the recent Summer Game Fest, two unexpected Soulslike sequels were revealed, with fans of the genre having even more to look forward to. Code Vein 2 and Mortal Shell 2 are currently in development, and while no release dates have been announced, fan reaction has already been incredibly positive.
