Mere hours after launch, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers has proven to be very popular on Steam, drawing in over 100,000 concurrent players. Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is the second game from Chinese developer Leenzee, and is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
Announced all the way back in September 2021, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers has had a slow but steady journey to market. The Chinese-developed action RPG gained renewed attention during the June 2024 Xbox Games Showcase, where it was confirmed as a day one addition to the Game Pass subscription service. Wuchang: Fallen Feathers' final release date - July 24, 2025 - was confirmed earlier this year, building anticipation among fans of soulslike games.
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers Review
At first glance, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers feels familiar, but its deeper systems take the genre in some unexpected and highly rewarding directions.
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is finally in the hands of players, and on Steam at least, the new soulslike title looks to be a major hit. It opened to a peak concurrent player count of 114,132, and at the time of writing, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is holding steady at over 111,000 concurrent players. This burst in popularity has skyrocketed Wuchang: Fallen Feathers to fifth place on Steam's Most Played Games list at the moment - an undoubtedly impressive feat for a brand-new IP from a relatively unknown studio.
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers Pulls Over 114,000 Concurrent Steam Players
Likely contributing to this success is Wuchang: Fallen Feathers' fairly modest PC requirements. At minimum, the game requires an Nvidia GTX 1060 (6GB) / AMD RX 580 (8GB), Intel Core i5-8400 / AMD Ryzen 5 1600, and 16GB of RAM. According to the June 2025 Steam hardware survey, the most common GPU utilized by the platform's users is the RTX 4060 (above recommended spec) and 16GB is the most-used RAM configuration, so it's safe to say that a large chunk of Steam users can play Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, that too with great visuals and performance.
While Leenzee has yet to reveal how Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is performing on Xbox Series X/S and PS5, the Steam player numbers could indicate a positive reception for the game on consoles too. As mentioned previously, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is a day one Xbox Game Pass launch, so there will likely be a lot of subscribers interested in trying out the action RPG at no cost. The game's critical reception has been largely positive, with a 75 percent average score on both OpenCritic and Metacritic. Praise has centered around Wuchang: Fallen Feathers' novel Madness mechanic, which changes how death and damage are handled, as well as its dodge-centric combat.
