Version 1.1 of Wuthering Waves has been released and players have been introduced to a variety of game mechanics. Wuthering Waves incorporates mechanics from many other open-world rpg games and adds their own touch of cyberspace to it. Many players who enjoy games such as Genshin Impact may find many similarities when playing it.
Amongst the similarities, there are a few odd new mechanics that not a lot of games seem to have. Since the premise of Wuthering Waves is set in a futuristic world where humans use resonance to battle monsters, the landscape is very dystopian. Humans seem to live in communities, behind fortified walls away from the remnants of a chaotic past. Outside these walls, you’ll find various monsters, challenges and odd things that Rovers can absorb and use for their resonance skills.
Wuthering Waves vs Genshin Impact: Similarities and Differences
Wuthering Waves and Genshin Impact are two different games that have similar mechanics. Here's a better way of understanding this new franchise.
How To Use The Sensor In Wuthering Waves
The sensor is a new gimmick that Rovers can toggle on through the Utility bar in the main menu. Players can use the sensor to detect various things. These range from collectible items when exploring the landscape, quest items, or identifying enemy weaknesses.
The sensor is especially handy when trying to identify an enemy's weakness, as players can detect it from a distance before engaging. You can also use it to find out if an animal is hostile or not, since a majority of the species outside the city are detected as enemies.
How To Use The Levitator In Wuthering Waves
The Levitator is a device mechanic that is available once you complete the first part of the main quest. Since it is mainly an exploration tool, players will automatically be able to use it when they come close to either a challenge or overworld material.
The trick to using it is pretty simple. For instance, certain rocks in the game can only be broken with the help of the Levitator. You need to equip it to lift a glowing rock and throw it against a much larger one to shatter it. Simple, basic attacks do not work on these rocks.
As the Levitator automatically activates when you are near the crystal, PC players have to press G to pick up the rock. You can angle your camera to a suitable frame if you want to aim and chuck the rock aggressively. Or you could also simply throw it. Either way works. This strategy also works for the pressure plate challenges that require Rovers to use the Levitator to pick up weighted cubes that need to be placed on platforms.
Wuthering Waves: Echo Summon Event Guide
Wuthering Waves’ Echo Summon Event is the head start beginners need for assembling the best teams; here’s what players need to know.
To easily access both the Sensor and Levitator, follow these steps:
- If you play on a PC, press the Tab key to bring up the Utility wheel with all the mechanics. It is here that you can set each new mechanic to suit your own likes.
- If you are playing on a mobile, you will have to access the Utility wheel through the main menu in the top right corner of the screen.
- If you are playing on PS5, hold left on the controller's D-pad and then select the Sensor or Levitator by highlighting it. Then, release your hold on the D-pad to equip them. Now that it's equipped, press and hold L1 and then tap Triangle to activate it.
Players should note that to unlock the Sensor, you will have to complete the Huanglong Chapter 1 of the main story. After completing the Midnight Ranger’s quest, only then will the Sensor be permanently available.
