Wuthering Waves is a gacha open world game that's caught the attention of players of HoYoverse giant Genshin Impact. Like other gacha games, players can pull for weapons and party members, adding a level of luck and challenge to the title. With Wuthering Waves' initial reveal back in 2022, fans have been waiting for this one, but some are now saying that the wait should have been longer for the sake of quality.

While the combat gameplay of Wuthering Waves has been received fairly well, numerous other elements haven't, like the English dub, animations, textures, and system stability. With the audio, players have said that voice lines tend to get cut off when cutscenes end, volume sometimes seemingly drops out on its own for idle voices, and the English dub sounds as though it was recorded poorly, with audible popping sounds for some characters. Others have noted that the English dub sounds stilted and awkward, with many fans switching to the Japanese or Chinese audio options instead.

Another player has pointed out a bizarre animation of climbing stairs, where the legs rise oddly and the upper body doesn't respond in a normal way to the motion. Rover's feet also visibly clip through some of the steps, making some players question why, as many games utilize Inverse Kinematics (IK) to ensure that a character's feet are correctly planted while climbing steps.

Others have issues with the game lagging or stuttering, though that issue may be amended soon. The developer has issued an official apology for the condition of the title, and says that their teams are working overtime to get the performance issues and Wuthering Waves errors under control. According to a machine translation of the original Chinese text, this includes fixing crashes, blurry textures, freezing, and low frame rates. The game will also be offering players ten standard pulls in an effort to help make up for the inconvenience.

Games have recovered from worse than this, with titles like Cyberpunk 2077 and Final Fantasy 14 being major success stories of poor launches turning into excellent game experiences. However, it remains to be seen if Wuthering Waves will experience the same success. Some of the issues players are complaining about can be fixed in a patch, but issues like poor quality audio dubs may be more difficult to amend without bringing the voice actors back in to replace recorded lines. With any luck, players will be able to get the experience they were expecting in the near future.
