Wuthering Waves has confirmed it will be releasing on PlayStation 5 consoles on January 2. The date also coincides with the launch of Wuthering Waves Version 2.0 on all available platforms.

When Wuthering Waves was first released in May 2024, it was only available for download on mobile devices and PC. Fans wondered if the open-world gacha title would land on more platforms eventually. Fortunately for players, Kuro Games confirmed in July that Wuthering Waves was being developed for PlayStation 5. Considering that Wuthering Waves allows for cross-platform multiplayer, fans were excited about a PS5 version. Now, Wuthering Waves has revealed the nation of Rinascita, and with it comes some exciting news for console players.

Developer Kuro Games has confirmed that Wuthering Waves is launching on PlayStation 5 on the same date as its Version 2.0 release, which will be on January 2, 2025. According to Kuro Games, pre-registration is already available on the PlayStation Store. Indeed, a Wuthering Waves pre-order "Awakening Bundle" is listed on the PS Store for $9.99. Although Wuthering Waves is a free-to-play game, fans can purchase a special bundle to receive some items that will give them a head start. Version 2.0 will come as soon as Wuthering Waves wraps up its Huanglong era. The next update will not only introduce players to a new nation, but also to new Resonators, creatures, and adventures.

When live-service RPGs release a new nation or world, they usually experience a resurgence in their playerbase, as has happened with competitors Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail. Of course, Wuthering Waves only released Version 1.4 in November, and its next chapter is still weeks away.
