Wuthering Waves was long anticipated within the community as it's said to be the game that'd finally put Genshin to rest. After Wuwa's release, there are plenty of obvious similarities between Genshin Impact and Wuthering Waves, like the level-up system and open-world exploration. However, when it comes to combat, there are more differences than similarities.
For example, playing Lingyang in Wuwa won't feel like any character in Genshin Impact. Despite the similarities between the element "Glacio," which is equivalent to Cryo in Genshin Impact, there's no elemental reaction system in the game, and players mostly have to rely on attack chains and combo to maximize their DPS. Other than knowing each character's playstyle, Rovers must also know how to build Lingyang for him to shine as bright as his Liondance performance.

Best Lingyang Echoes In Wuthering Waves
As a Glacio character, Lingyang's best Echoes in Wuthering Waves is 5pc Freezing Frost, which boosts Glacio DMG. Here's what the set does at 2pc and 5pc:
- 2pc: Glacio DMG +10%.
- 5pc: Upon using Basic Attack or Heavy Attack, Glacio DMG +10% for 15s, stacking up to three times.
If the ice set is unavailable, 5pc Lingering Tunes is just as good as Freezing Frost. Lingyang is a main DPS who'll spend a lot of time on the field, and his Outro deals great DMG, making this set very promising for him. Lingering Tunes provide the following boosts:
- 2pc: ATK +10%.
- 5pc: While on the field, ATK +5% every 1.5s, up to 4 times. Outro Skill DMG increases by 60%.
Although opting for an Energy Regen set from 2pc Moonlit Clouds means he'll sacrifice a decent amount of DPS, it's not useless for him. Lingyang deals most of his damage in the Striding Lion state, which can be triggered by using Heavy Attack while having a full Lion's Spirit Forte Gauge. Other than manually filling this bar with attacks, players can instantly max it by casting Resonance Liberation (Ultimate). Therefore, ensuring this Ultimate fills up quicker is not so bad for him. However, 5pc Moonlit Clouds is a definite no for him, since it's supportive and doesn't fit his kit. Here's an overview of this Echo set:

- 5pc: Upon using Outro Skill, ATK of the next Resonator +22.5% for 15s.

Best Lingyang Weapons In Wuthering Waves
Currently, the best weapon for Lingyang in Wuthering Waves is the 5-star Abyss Surges. It slightly increases Energy Regen, Basic Attack DMG, and Resonance Skill DMG, perfect for the Suan'ni. Sadly, weapons of other rarities don't fit as well as Abyss Surges, with some enhancing Ultimate DMG or granting too much Energy Regen. Nevertheless, Rovers can opt for 4-star Gauntlets such as Hollow Mirage, Stonard (Battle Pass weapon), and Gauntlets#21D. 3-star equipment like Gauntlets of Night and Originite: Type IV also works as a temporary weapon.
How To Play Lingyang In Wuthering Waves
Lingyang's gameplay mainly revolves around his Lion's Spirit Forte Gauge. Above his HP bar, players can see this musical bar fills up each time Lingyang uses his Resonance Skill Furious Punches. Once it's full, Rovers can use his Heavy Attack (long press Basic Attack) to activate the Striding Lion state. In this state, Lingyang hovers in the air, dealing larger damage than his normal Basic Attack.
Unlike most Wuthering Waves characters, Lingyang's Skill doesn't go on cooldown upon being cast. Instead, after performing Basic Attack 3, 4, or 5, his Skill becomes Furious Punches, dealing higher DMG and restoring some Lion's Spirit. Overall, the Suan'ni also comes with less demanding combos compared to other units.
Another way to fill Lingyang's Lion's Spirit is by casting Resonance Liberation (Ultimate). Activating Ultimate grants the Liondancer 50% Glacio DMG Bonus, and increases the duration of the Striding Lion state by up to 10s.
Lingyang's ability to attack mid-air is both a good thing and a bad thing. The good thing is that it looks cooler than most characters in the game, and has the potential to continuously CC some foes. The bad thing is that it may hinder some crucial mechanics such as dodging or having awkward hitboxes.
Lingyang Forte Priority In Wuthering Waves
While in his Striding Lion state, Lingyang uses the multiplier in his Forte Circuit, making it the top priority. Afterward, his Skill comes second, being the most important move to fill his Lion's Spirit bar outside his Ultimate. Meanwhile, both his Resonance Liberation and Intro Skill don't really do much upon being leveled up compared to the rest of his Forte, placing them on the lower side of the priority.
