Summary
- WWE 2K18 on Nintendo Switch 2 runs significantly better than on the original console.
- The game was delisted from digital storefronts, making physical copies pricey and online play unavailable.
- It's the only WWE 2K game playable on Switch 2, but future installments are expected to come to the console.
The broken WWE 2K18 Switch port finally works properly, but only if you play it on the Nintendo Switch 2. When WWE 2K18 launched for the Nintendo Switch, it marked the first time that a main series WWE game was released on a Nintendo console since WWE '13 on the original Wii. Unfortunately, WWE 2K18 on the Switch left a lot to be desired and didn't really provide an experience comparable to the other versions of the wrestling game.
WWE 2K18 on Switch was notorious for its technical problems, to the point where it was practically unplayable, especially in any matches that included more than two wrestlers. Now, eight years later, anyone that still has a copy of WWE 2K18 for the Nintendo Switch lying around can load it up on the Switch 2 and have a much better experience than they did on the OG Switch back in the day.
Nintendo Switch 2 Console Review: A Big Upgrade Without the Must-Play Games to Match
The Nintendo Switch 2 is a significant leap forward compared to the original console, but besides one game, its launch lineup is underwhelming.
While WWE 2K18 does not have a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition upgrade like some other Switch 1 games, it still benefits from the Switch 2's added horsepower. Playing the Switch 1 version of WWE 2K18 on the Switch 2 is a massive improvement, even without an update. As seen in a video uploaded by RGT 85, WWE 2K18 can easily handle the match types that the Switch 1 simply couldn't. This revelation should be exciting for those that still have their Switch 1 version of WWE 2K18 lying around, but those that want to try it out may hit a roadblock.
WWE 2K18 Runs Way Better on Nintendo Switch 2
WWE 2K18 is not available digitally on the Switch 1. The game was delisted from all digital storefronts years ago, as is the norm for WWE video games. Not only that, but prices for WWE 2K18 Switch 1 physical releases are out of control, with many on eBay listing it for around $60. Add in the fact that WWE 2K18 online was shut down ages ago, and it means that anyone wanting a WWE 2K game on Switch 2 is likely out of luck. For now.
WWE 2K18 is, at the time of this writing, the only WWE 2K game playable on Nintendo's latest platform. However, that should change in the near future. 2K has confirmed that it is bringing WWE 2K to the Nintendo Switch 2, though specifics on that front have yet to be revealed. It's possible WWE 2K25 will be getting ported to the Switch 2, but it could also be that fans will have to wait until WWE 2K26 drops next year. Whatever the case may be, those that already own WWE 2K18 can tide themselves over now that the game has finally been fixed.
