WWE 2K22 is 2K Sports' chance to win back fans' trust and put the franchise back on track. WWE 2K20's disastrous launch was so severe that it saw 2K Sports cancel WWE 2K21 to focus its efforts on WWE 2K22, giving developer Visual Concepts more time to make the next game in the series in an attempt to ensure that it's higher quality than WWE 2K20. It remains to be seen if these efforts were successful or not, but fans will find out once WWE 2K22 launches next month.

The WWE 2K22 release date is right around the corner, and while the game isn't even out yet, 2K Sports has already revealed some of the DLC that fans can look forward to post-launch. While there will most certainly be new wrestlers added to the WWE 2K22 roster as part of the game's DLC plans, it seems that non-wrestlers will be in the mix as well, with confirmation that musician Machine Gun Kelly will be featured in one of the WWE 2K22 DLC packs.

For the uninitiated, there will be a WWE 2K22 season pass that includes five DLC packs to be released in the year after the game's launch. Details on what exactly these DLC packs will entail are unavailable at the time of this writing beyond that one of the featured characters will be MGK. While this may seem like a head-scratching choice on the part of the developers, MGK may fit better than some fans realize.

WWE 2K22 Soundtrack List

  • Machine Gun Kelly - "concert for aliens"
  • Machine Gun Kelly ft. YUNGBLUD & Bert McCracken - "body bag"
  • Wu Tang Clan - "Protect Ya Neck"
  • Motorhead - "Iron Fist"
  • Poppy - "Say Cheese" (Live NXT version)
  • Royal Blood - "Typhoons"
  • Bring Me The Horizon - "Happy Song"
  • The Weeknd - "Heartless"
  • Turnstile - "I Don't Wanna Be Blind"
  • Asking Alexandria - "The Final Episode (Let's Change the Channel)"
  • KennyHoopla - "Hollywood Sucks"

MGK has been featured on WWE television on multiple occasions in the past, at one point getting powerbombed off the stage by Kevin Owens. Not only that, but MGK is involved with the WWE 2K22 soundtrack, serving as executive producer. In any case, WWE video game rosters have rarely included guest characters that weren't actual wrestlers, so it will be interesting to see who else makes the cut.

If Machine Gun Kelly is part of the WWE 2K22 roster, it's very possible that other celebrities involved with wrestling will be featured this time around. An obvious choice for the WWE 2K22 roster would be controversial social media personality Logan Paul, as he has been involved in multiple WWE storylines over the years. Logan Paul was aligned with Sami Zayn at WrestleMania 37, and he even took a Stunner from Kevin Owens as a result. More recently, Paul has aligned himself with The Miz to take on Rey and Dominik Mysterio at the upcoming WrestleMania 38. However, MGK is the only celebrity guest currently confirmed for the WWE 2K22 roster at the time of this writing.

WWE 2K22 launches March 11 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
