WWE 2K22 comes out later this month, and it’s shaping up to be a big upgrade over its predecessor. WWE 2K20 was filled with bugs and glitches, so developer Visual Concepts took an extra year to work on the next game. WWE 2K22 got further delayed from last year to this month, but it looks like the game will be worth this long wait.
WWE 2K22 launches with a ton of single-player content, including a full story mode called MyRISE that follows the journey of a created superstar. Showcase mode is usually centered around a WWE Superstar, and features important matches and events from their career. WWE Superstar Rey Mysterio is on the cover of WWE 2K22 and this year’s Showcase mode will be designed around his illustrious WWE career. 2K Sports has now released a new trailer that highlights these two single-player modes.
The trailer begins by showing both in-game and real-life footage from Rey Mysterio’s legendary 20-year career. It features glimpses of many memorable matches and iconic moments that seem to be faithfully recreated in WWE 2K22. The video then switches gears to MyRISE, which will allow fans to rise through the ranks of the WWE. Players will probably start in the indie wrestling scene and aim towards becoming a marquee WWE Superstar.
The trailer states that users can choose between unique storylines for the men’s and women’s divisions in MyRISE. Previous MyRISE modes featured extensive skill trees and fans can expect the same from WWE 2K22. The video also confirms that players will be able to make choices throughout the story and highlights the various special editions and pre-order bonuses for WWE 2K22 at the end.
2K Showcase and MyRISE are arguably two of the most important game modes of WWE 2K22, and it seems like the game will be a fully-featured release that is packed with content. Rey Mysterio is a great choice for 2K Showcase, and MyRISE can hopefully offer an engaging story.
In addition to these two game modes, WWE 2K22 will also feature Universe and MyGM. Universe mode lets fans fully customize the weekly WWE shows, as well as PPVs, and they are also free to design any kind of event they want. MyGM makes a return after many years of absence and puts players in charge of a WWE brand as they compete with other shows for ratings while also managing their finances.
WWE 2K22 launches March 11 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
