Visual Concepts launched WWE 2K22 two weeks ago and has managed to avoid many of the controversies that have plagued the series over the past several iterations of the WWE 2K franchise. That doesn't mean that WWE 2K22 is without its flaws, though. That's why Visual Concepts is now dropping a substantial update for the pro wrestling game, focusing on bug fixes, optimizations, and gameplay balance. WWE 2K22 patch 1.06 is available now, so players should already be seeing these changes in-game.The update can be broken down into sections including general performance improvements and bug fixes, gameplay changes and fixes, online stability and optimization, and MyFACTION changes. General changes include unspecific stability and performance enhancements, to start. There are also several improvements to how characters look, including updated character likenesses for unnamed WWE wrestlers. Further improvements include updates to hair, tattoos, and skin/eyes.WWE 2K22 has also received a lengthy list of gameplay changes and fixes. Some of the biggest changes include improvements to several WWE gimmick match types. For instance, interaction with props, arenas, and cage collision have all been improved. Further, dive attacks onto ladders and jumping off ladders have been improved. Character interactions with ring ropes are also being improved, particularly with regard to Royale Rumble elimination setups and behavior. One other key fix is when opponents would take little or no damage in certain situations.
Online is also an aspect of WWE 2K22 that's very important to players, so it's no surprise that Visual Concepts is making improvements to that part of the game as it's able to. Specific improvements include fixing an issue tied to long matches, as well as lobby performance with AI opponents. But the biggest changes are likely captured in the ambiguous note, "General stability improvements." This hopefully means players will have a smoother multiplayer experience going forward.
Lastly, regarding WWE 2K22's MyFACTION mode, Visual Concepts made some slight usability changes. Icon visibility for weekly Evo challenges has been improved and a fix has been issued for weapon baiting in Faction Wars. WWE 2K22 has also added nWo Standalone cards for MyFACTION for players to acquire.
While general stability and performance issues being fixed and improved is the most important aspect of WWE 2K22's 1.06 patch, there are some more specific changes players can check out, too. It'll be worth looking at players' favorite wrestlers to see if their visuals have been improved. And it'll be worth playing a few gimmick matches, whether it's a cage match, ladder match, or Royale Rumble, to see how the changes impact gameplay. Overall, it looks like WWE 2K22 has improved with patch 1.06.
WWE 2K22 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
