WWE 2K23's MyGm Mode is set to return and be even stronger than WWE 2K22's iteration of the game mode, with unlimited seasons, new brands, new match types, and more. The Best War Games recently attended a deep dive into WWE 2K23, hosted by 2K and Visual Concepts, to learn more about this game mode.
WWE 2K22' s MyGM Mode was hailed as a major victory for the franchise, but perhaps the most dominant impression of WWE 2K22 is how it laid a foundation for future games. Many fans expected plenty of improvements, and they seem to be getting them. It was previously confirmed that WWE 2K23's MyGM Mode would accommodate multiple seasons, which was one of the biggest issues with the last title, but improvements go beyond that.
For example, WWE 2K23 introduces two new brands players can represent in the game: WCW and NXT 2.0. The latter makes sense, but many may be surprised at the inclusion of WCW (World Championship Wrestling), as it has been out of business since 2001. Some WCW assets were purchased by WWE around that time, so while it is a surprise, it's still a nice representation of an older wrestling era. The game mode also introduces five new GMs, presumably with their own unique abilities, for players to take on. This includes Xavier Woods, Tyler Breeze, Kurt Angle, Eric Bischoff, and Mick Foley.
As many recall, WWE 2K22's MyGM Mode initially included only two titles (the main Men's Championship and the main Women's Championship) and was expanded to include Tag Team Titles in a post-launch update, and WWE 2K23 takes this further too. Visual Concepts developer Alan Flores confirmed that it would feature secondary titles, though they were not specified, and confirmed 4-player match types are part of the new MyGM Mode.
During this, Flores also confirmed a long-term goal for future WWE 2K games is to have "eventual parity" between MyGM mode and other game modes. That's to say that all the match types, titles, and features present in other WWE 2K game modes will eventually find themselves worked into MyGM mode. If nothing else, WWE 2K23 does seem like a large leap forward for this goal, and it'll be interesting to watch the beloved game mode continue to grow.
WWE 2K23 launches on March 17 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
