Since its launch, WWE 2K25 has steadily increased the number of available wrestlers in its already-impressive roster via DLC packs. The likes of The Great Khali, New Jack, and Penta have all been added in recent months. Now, some familiar faces are joining the fight via the 4th DLC pack, titled the Attitude Era Superstars pack, releasing on 17th September. D'Lo Brown, Mark Henry, Victoria, Billy Gunn and the Road Dogg are all included, providing a welcome nostalgia hit for many fans who grew up during the WWE's infamous Attitude Era.
The Best War Games recently spoke with WWE legend Road Dogg about his inclusion in WWE 2K25's Attitude Era Superstars Pack. As one half of popular tag team the New Age Outlaws, Road Dogg has plenty of career highlights, but he reflected on some of the very best matches he'd like to see included if he ever got his own Showcase mode.
WWE 2K25 Includes Surprise Throwback to Older Games
WWE 2K25 fans spot a surprising nod to one of the wrestling promotion's most beloved time periods and the many video games that spawned from it.
The Road Dogg on His Career Highlights
As part of one of the most charismatic and popular tag teams in WWE history, Road Dogg had some truly memorable moments throughout his career. The six-time world tag team champion also held the hardcore and intercontinental championships during his initial seven-year run with the company. When asked to pick out some of his favorite matches from his career that would feature in a Road Dogg Showcase mode, he said,
''I just recently watched myself versus China in the 1999 King of the Ring qualifying match. It was a wrestling match between me and this female, and she was with me as far as physicality is concerned. It was a masterclass in how you do this, how you set this up and how you do this. When I watched it back, I was surprised that I was that good. I thought, wow, that was incredible.
Anyway, I've seen a couple more that stand out. The dumpster match at Wrestlemania 14, of course. I had a match with Big Boss Man for the hardcore title. I beat him for the hardcore title that night with the help of Mick Foley, he threw a net over Boss Man, and I pinned him. It was a great match. Then another one is Al Snow. We had some incredible hardcore matches. In one, he picks up a Christmas plant and throws it about 30 feet. It hits me right in the face. We had some good wars!''
Road Dogg on Who He'd Have Liked to Team Up With
Road Dogg is joining the roster of a WWE 2K game for the third time since the series rebranded to include 2K in the title. He was also included in both 2K17 and 2K22, albeit as a part of the base roster rather than being added as DLC. With so many new superstars in today's modern era, when asked who on the current roster he would've liked to team up with in his prime, Road Dogg said,
''If it was an intergender match, which they're doing now with this new stuff, it would be me and Rhea Ripley versus the world! And if it was a dude, I would probably stick with Billy Gunn. But if it was a new guy, I would say Austin Theory. I'm a huge Austin theory fan. I think he has yet to reach his potential.''
Road Dogg has appeared in plenty of wrestling games over the years, so has seen first hand the evolution of the genre. WWE 2K25 has been praised by many as the series' best entry in years, and with legendary fighters like the New Age Outlaws joining the fray in this latest DLC, the game's popularity should only increase.
