WWE 2K25 has released its latest round of patch notes, and while incredibly brief, they mention a fix to a major problem that has been plaguing the game's Universe Mode. The franchise's perennial sandbox mode got some upgrades in WWE 2K25, and the wrestling game's Update 1.09 should make playing through it a lot more enjoyable for players trying to explore its new features.
The latest iteration of Visual Concepts' wrestling series launched in March, and Universe Mode has had a number of issues reported since then. A mid-April update to WWE 2K25 also put a heavy focus on Universe Mode, with its notes listing off five different problems that had been brought up by players. These include shows being generated with empty match cards, Money in the Bank cash-ins still listed as available even after wrestlers have traded in their briefcases, tag teams being locked into position when players are trying to edit division rankings, and superstars being invisible during promo segments.
WWE 2K25 on Nintendo Switch 2 Puts the Ball in AEW's Court
WWE 2K25 has officially been confirmed for the Nintendo Switch 2, which leaves rival AEW with an important decision to make.
The latest patch lists only two items, with one being a generalized improvement to stability and performance, which is usually mentioned in the game's updates. But the bigger issue being addressed is WWE 2K25's count out glitch. Many players have been complaining that referees have been issuing count-outs in a wide variety of match types while they are playing Universe Mode, including matches that are supposed to allow players to spend as much time as they would like outside the ring. According to the latest round of notes, this problem has now been addressed.
Prior to the fix, the problem had been widespread throughout the game's sandbox mode, which is designed to allow players total control over the WWE Universe, scheduling matches and promos for multiple shows, rosters, and premium live events. According to reports from players, the count out bug was providing for some truly baffling experiences, with referees inexplicably trying to count out wrestlers in almost every match type in WWE 2K25. That includes the Backstage Brawl, where wrestlers start out in locations that don't even have an official ring, like the Performance Center parking lot and the warehouse-like WWE Archives.
This bug fix comes at an important time for 2K and Visual Concepts. The release of the first of five DLC packs for WWE 2K25 is coming in just a few weeks, with the New Wave Pack set to arrive on May 15. This pack will include top NXT stars Giulia and Stephanie Vaquer, who didn't make the roster at launch, as well as the Motor City Machine Guns. A special celebrity guest will also be included in this pack, which rumors indicate will likely be either rapper Travis Scott or influencer KSI.
