This list contains spoilers for Naruto and Naruto Shippuden
Despite the two of them forming an impenetrable bond at the very start of the Naruto story, Naruto and Sasuke are almost entirely different in every conceivable way. While Naruto is a happy-go-lucky and considerate character who is always willing to help those around him, Sasuke is more of a moody and stoic ninja who, initially, is completely obsessed with getting revenge on his brother for wiping out their clan. Not only that, but the two also stand apart in their abilities, as while Sasuke is able to utilize many Jutsu techniques passed down through the Uchiha bloodline, Naruto is forced to learn a lot of his abilities from scratch.
Naruto: 8 Characters Who Came To Respect Naruto
Though these characters weren't fond of the young knucklehead ninja to begin with, they came to respect Naruto over the course of the story.
While it can therefore be easy to assume that Sasuke is the better ninja of the two, considering he's nowhere near as clumsy or hot-headed as his rival, there are still many things that Naruto is able to do which Sasuke simply cannot, some of which are related to his abilities, but others are more closely tied to his personality. When taking a look back at the Naruto story, these are some of the biggest feats and achievements Naruto himself has shown off which Sasuke has never been able to replicate.
6 Mastering The Rasengan
Naruto's New Mentor Taught Him A Brand New Powerful Jutsu Ability
The Rasengan has long been Naruto's go-to Jutsu ability for taking down tough opponents, and though it's taken on many different forms throughout the story, it always takes the shape of a blue ball of energy which causes an explosive blast as soon as it makes contact. This specific ability was passed down to Naruto by Jiraya, and while the plucky ninja may have struggled to get the hang of it at first, he would eventually start using his Shadow Clones to help him power it up before he landed the final attack.
Sasuke, on the other hand, would instead opt to rely on his Chidori, which looks and acts very much the same as the Rasengan, but is instead fused with lethal bolts of lightning. Because the Rasengan is a special technique which only a handful of ninja have ever been able to learn, it means Sasuke would need to have been taught by Jiaiya to fully master it, which would have been impossible considering he was already to wrapped up in his plan of leaving and getting revenge on Itachi by that point.
5 Channel Kurama's Power
Unlike Sasuke, Naruto Always Has A Tailed Beast To Back Him Up
If Sasuke had been born with a Tailed Beast sealed inside of him, his mission to take down Itachi undoubtedly would have been a lot easier. Thankfully though, the one who came to possess the Nine-Tailed Fox was Naruto, as while there were moments where he lost control of his power and when berserk, he ultimately never wanted to use the beast just for the sake of killing others. Instead, Naruto would learn to form a close bond with Kurama over the course of the story, until eventually, the immensely powerful fox decided to willingly lend Naruto his Chakra during the final War.
Naruto: Every Hokage, Ranked According To Strength
Being Hokage can be a huge burden, and not many are fit to hold the title. Every Hokage had something that made them unique. This is how they compare.
Though Sasuke does have his Susano to dish out damage and protect him in the middle of combat, this is still a far cry from a Tailed Beast, especially Kurama, who is the strongest of them all. Sasuke would feel the true wrath of Kurama during his first fight with Naruto at the Valley of the End, where he struggles to fend off the overwhelming power of the ferocious beast who had taken over Naruto's body during the fight.
4 Activate Sage Mode
Naruto Put In The Training To Obtain A Powerful Form Which Sasuke Never Acquired
When word reached Konoha that an absurdly powerful member of the Akatsuki known as Pain was making his way to the village, Naruto immediately realized that he needed to gain more power to even have a chance of defeating him. As a result, he began his training on Mount Myoboku to become a Sage, allowing him to harness the surrounding elements to greatly enhance his strength, durability, and speed. While his eventual fight with Pain was still far from easy, activating Sage Mode did still give Naruto a much-needed advantage in combat, which is something Sasuke could only ever dream of.
Sasuke preferred relying on his own Sharingan and Uchiha bloodline techniques to take down his opponents, so entering Sage Mode was never really something he considered. Considering how powerful Sasuke becomes in such a short period of time, it probably would have made him severely overpowered if he'd ever managed to achieve this state, but since Naruto is the main protagonist, it makes a lot more sense why he was the one who eventually obtained it.
3 Create An Army Of Shadow Clones
Naruto's Endless Chakra Reserves Allow Him To Create Hundreds Of Clones At Once
While most ninja are capable of spawning at least a few Shadow Clones, because each of these clones will use up some of the user's own Chakra, it means that many people will simply throw out a handful of them when in the middle of combat. This includes Sasuke who, while not all that keen about using Shadow Clones, has still demonstrated the ability to spawn them when trying to play mind games on his opponents, but what he's unable to do is create hundreds or even thousands of them like his arch-rival can.
Ever since the first episode of the series, Naruto has been able to create entire armies of Shadow Clones without his original body being worn down. The reason he's able to do this is because he possesses an essentially endless pool of Chakra which is provided by the Nine Tailed Fox, ensuring that he can still stay on his feet, even when he has an entire swarm of mimics that he needs to keep track of.
2 Make Friends Easily
Sasuke Isn't As Open Or Welcoming As The Protagonist
One characteristic of Sasuke that is very easy to pick up on is that he's not exactly a people person. In fact, when he was still a Genin in the Ninja Academy, Sasuke could often be seen sulking on his own and daydreaming about all the gruesome ways that he could kill his brother; having not a care in the world about making any real friends. Naruto, on the other hand, couldn't be any more different, being a lot more open and friendly to the point where he can even come across as a little irritating because of how desperate he is to make friends.
This ultimately reflects the different ways that the two boys deal with their loneliness. For Sasuke, the only way to heal his emotional trauma is to get back at the person who took everything from him, while Naruto simply wants to be accepted and acknowledged by the people around him. By the end of Shippuden, while Naruto had made friends with an entire village of people, Sasuke had barely anyone left by his side.
1 Become A Hokage
It Seems Unlikely That Sasuke Would Ever Take On The Role Of Being A Leader
Naruto has made it no secret that his dream ever since he was a child was to become the Hokage, though for Sasuke, this didn't seem to ever cross his mind, and there are a few reasons why. Not only was he dead set on reaching Itachi, but Sasuke just isn't the type of guy who would fit the role of being a leader. Instead, Sasuke is more of a lone wolf who acts by his own intuition, and therefore, it would be hard to ever imagine him being tied down to a position that would force him to take on that much responsibility, and that would also involve him ensuring the safety of thousands of other people.
For Naruto though, learning about how to assume these responsibilities has ultimately been what his entire journey has been about, as he has gradually learned how to look out for other people, and, more importantly, how to keep his emotions in check when the going gets tough. Another reason Sasuke would probably never reach the position of Hokage is because of the amount of harm he's already dealt to the village, especially considering his escape led several ninja to chase after him, which ended up putting them all in imminent danger. Needless to say, it probably wouldn't be a very good look if such a guy was in charge of the village that he hated for many years.
