Xbox gamers who've missed out on Sega's 2011 Sonic Generations on Xbox 360 have another opportunity to grab the title as part of the new Sonic Legacy Bundle. This comes just over a month before the highly anticipated release of Sonic X Shadow Generations, which pairs an all-new 3D Shadow game called Shadow Generations with a remaster of Sonic Generations.
Following the closure of the Xbox 360 Marketplace in July, the digital version of Sonic Generations was delisted on the Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S stores, leading to much disappointment from the Sonic fanbase. Seeing that a remastered version of Sonic Generations is about to release as part of Sonic X Shadow Generations in October, this move was confirmed by Sega to drum up more interest in its new title from those who missed out on the original Sonic Generations.
Sonic Generations Is Making a Comeback With New Shadow Levels
Sega reveals that Sonic Generations is making a comeback on modern systems, adding a Shadow the Hedgehog-focused story campaign with new levels.
Now, Sonic Generations has been made available once more on Xbox, but only as part of the new Sonic Legacy Bundle. The bundle includes the backward compatible Xbox 360 versions of both Sonic Adventure games, both episodes of Sonic the Hedgehog 4, and the Xbox 360 port of 1996's Sonic the Fighters. Also included is Sonic Adventure' s DX Upgrade, and DLCs for Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic Generations, all for $60.

Despite this bundle now being the only way for fans to get their hands on the original Xbox 360 version of Sonic Generations, fans may find $60 very steep for a collection of 360 Sonic games, many of which are around two decades old or older. The price would be more justifiable if Sega and Xbox also included several long-delisted Sonic 360 ports, like Sonic and Knuckles, or any of the original three Sonic the Hedgehog games. While Sonic Generations' inclusion in this Sonic Legacy Bundle is an exceptionally rare case of Xbox re-listing a game, fans shouldn't hold their breath for Xbox to do the same with the other delisted Sonic games, or any older delisted game for that matter. As for its price, the Sonic Legacy Bundle's $60 is sure to begin dropping with time.
Sonic fans have a lot to be excited about this Fall and holiday season as the 2024 Year of Shadow looks to reach its peak. Sonic X Shadow Generations is set for an October 22 release date, and movie fans are ready for Shadow's silver screen debut with the help of Keanu Reeves as part of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 on December 20.
