Meta’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg has recently announced that Xbox Cloud Gaming will be available on Meta Quest headsets starting in December. This is the company’s latest effort to improve the quality of its VR offerings, as it has recently improved the performance of Meta Quest 2 and unveiled the new Meta Quest+ VR subscription service.

Back in 2022, Microsoft announced that it would bring Xbox Cloud Gaming to Meta Quest 2 via a new partnership with Meta. This way, players would gain access to cloud-based gaming while using the headset.

Now, after a whole year of waiting, Zuckerberg confirmed that gamers can expect Microsoft’s cloud service to be available for Meta Quest headsets by December. Xbox Cloud Gaming has been already released for Xbox, mobile, tablets, and smart TVs so far, so it’s a widely expected addition to Meta Quest. At the moment, however, Meta has not yet completely announced how the service will be integrated. For instance, it’s yet unclear whether gamers will need to separately subscribe to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate to use the service, or if it’ll be offered as a standalone purchase. Also not entirely clear is whether all the games from Game Pass will be available, as Xbox Cloud Gaming is currently being offered as a part of the service.

This news comes on the heels of the unveiling of Meta’s own subscription service called Meta Quest+ VR. Back in June, the company announced that its service, which costs $7.99 monthly (or $59.99 annually) would allow gamers to gain new titles each month, with games like Pistol Whip and Walkabout Mini Golf as offerings in the first few months of the service. This month, gamers can snatch Red Matter and A Fisherman’s Tale if they subscribe.

The inclusion of these services is not everything that Meta has shown for its fans recently, though. Meta and Reality Labs have recently revealed Meta Quest 3’s release date and specs. The new device will be out by October 10, costing between $499.99 (128 GB version) to $649.99 (512 GB), and come with several improvements when compared to the current Meta Quest 2. According to the official announcement, the device will have 8 GB of RAM, a second-generation Qualcomm Snapdragon Xr2 chipset, improved resolution, and camera sensors. Overall, it’s a powerful upgrade, but Meta also promised that it would not abandon the current Meta Quest 2 at the moment, so fans who don’t want to purchase the new headset won’t have any problems for a while.
